Thank you for this breakdown! (I love statistics like this).

    Soooo....let me re-write this:

    - 75 pieces of garbage that take up valuable space (and sell for about 2 pp altogether)
    - 2 drinkables that save you all of 1 sp at a vendor
    - 23 greases which will lead to 11 actually usable items

I'm not an expert at foraging, but this seems like an inordinately low rate of "useful" things to get from it. Is this the worst zone in the game for foraging useful things or just average?

Oh not at all. Try foraging yew leaves in Wakening lands sometime. Or a specific item you need from any of the DoN zones. /shudder.

Are you sure you got water? All I've ever seen foraging in POI is the rust, grease and goo.

At any rate, essentially only have 3 items on your forage table makes foraging here not terrible, but it's still slow to get these in quantity, especially if your ranger is not quite high enough to solo, so has to stand at the zone bored to tears.

Am I a gimp? My ranger is 65 and I find soloing in PoI to be a lost cause mostly.

IF I get a single, I can run around in a very tight circle in the graveyard, wearing it down with archery. If it's non-snarable, that's not possible. Just not enough space to kite a non-snared mob here. If two (or more!) non-harmony mobs spawn together, it's... challenging.

It IS possible, just slow. On the other hand, tanking those mobs doesn't work well at all.

Is there some other technique for farming things solo in PoI that works better?

On second thought, I know I'm gimp. I only have Archery Mastery 1 and Combat Fury 2. Comes from trying to keep up with my wife in levels.

However, there's no reason to not kill something while I'm there. Anyone high enough to zone into PoI can make a contribution to a group there, but you may have to start one and recruit some folks to help.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

Lately, the zone is already camped by 2 full groups. And since I only have 6 aa (one of which is for forage mastery) I'm no where near having the Endless Quiver AA, much less Archery Mastery anything. As you mentioned, for a level 59 ranger, they hit too hard to try to melee with no healing at your back.

Fortunately, my last trip there, a shaman friend showed up, and we moved down a hallway and killed critters while I foraged.

On a related note, I've taken to putting up a buyer mule while I'm at work, and have "foraged" up several stacks of clockwork grease that way. 262 tinkering as of last night. Woohoo!

Those forage stats seem about what I've experienced there, and I've spent quite a lot of time foraging in PoI. And yes you can get the occaisional pod of water or even roots, but those are very few and far between. I used to spend the time when I was sitting around /lfg foraging while watching TV or something, and I've been soloing there for a while getting tinkering stuff as well.

Speaking as a ranger supporting a tinkering alt, it is possible to solo in PoI. I don't think I'd even want to try it without at least Endless Quiver and AM1 though. Just snare and bring the mobs to the zone in and root/shoot/DoT/repeat. I found at 62 when I did this, I usually didn't need to use harmony that much, but watch out for corroded models who are immune. You may have to snare split the two corroded models immediately on the right and just zone out to lose aggro. Stay away from archaiac models altogether and some of the "named" mobs closer to the factory as they are immune to change in run speed and you'll probably have to zone. With EQ/AM1 i found it was possible to solo here, but my time was better spent elsewhere. With AM2 it still takes a while to bring a mob down, but if you're patient and would otherwise be /lfg somewhere, you shouldn't have many problems. Soloing there with AM 3 is pretty much cake. Only problem now is since the server merged there's usually 2 groups at the zone in even at random o'clock in the morning, when it used to be empty. Ideally you'll want the entire ZI area to work with, but with practice, it's not too bad to pukll next to a full group, just be careful.

Last night, as a last resort, for lack of a healer, I happened to end up in PoI. We had an insanely overpowered group of my 65 ranger, my wife's 65 rogue, a guildy's 51 rogue, plus another guildy hydra with 66 mage, 62 enchanter, and 55 druid.

For once I stopped worrying about all those non-harmony, non-snare mobs and actually TRIED to pull multiples. This is a blast and I highly recommend it. They don't come in pairs nearly as often as I expected. Now I feel a bit more confident that I could solo this place even tanking. I was on the run pulling so much of the time, my little imp pet only cast ONCE on someone else. He restored my mana from nothing 4 times. The real workhorse was the mage. I've never seen planar mobs drop so fast before.

My wife was looting for our two tinkers and I forage automatically on my autofire button, so I look forward to having piles and piles of suppliles.

Magelo ranks each of our tinkers as 2nd in class on the server, but I think that's very misleading, especially since her mage is under 150.

i recently got my forage bot to 46 and placed it in the room with the chronographer. so far, in about 3 or 4 days, i've managed to scrount up approximately 400 grease. I need at least 500 to begin with, so i'm almost there. But anyway. Basically, the only time i've seen roots/pod of water was when I was low on food/out of food. i took my toon in there a little unprepared, and it ran out of water during day one. i didn't see a single pod of water/root before that, and I haven't seen a single one since I gave him food/water.

So just make sure you stock up on grub before you go, so you know you'll get the good stuff.

Also, what is the name of the foraging machete?

My druid forage bot has been hard at work. Here's my stats!

Forage level is 200, no foraging mods of any kind (I know I slack)
                    Nature's Bounty 1

                    So far, have:
                    120 Pile of Rust
                    27 Phosphorescent Goop
                    59 Clockwork Grease
                    1 Roots
all that with around 5 Nature's Bounty's (double forages) for ever 30 forages and I'm at around 175 forages

Foraging for clockwork grease sure is tiring work

Foraging with an Iksar in PoI

I'm presently leveling up a shammy alt so my gnome SK won't have to sit LFG for hours, and I was wondering what sort of success rate I would find with his miserable little 50 forage skill (I'll have him ready for PoI in a couple weeks). Can I even forage up the grease, or should I forget about it? I'll basically be keying all of my spells to hit forage on my shaman, or at least set up a special page of hotkeys for while I hunt in places I want to forage. Would I just be better off farming plat drops from wherever with my high 60's SK/Shammy duo and buying in the bazaar than trying, perhaps futilely, to get clockwork grease forages?

With 50 forage skill you should be able to forage up some grease. I am not sure the rate you will do it, but I have been able to forage up the grease with my bard who's capped at 50.

As an Iksar myself, I would forage about 2-3 Grease per hour while farming tinkering supplies for my gnome.

Sorry for bumping this old thread but thought I would add that I dont think a forage mod have any effect if you are at 200 skill.

At 200 skill I always forage something, and aprox half the time I get a double forage since I have the forage AAs as well.

My rate on grease is around 1 stack/hour.

Im pretty sure most of you allready know this, but here it comes anyway:

                            Forage macro:
                            /doability #
                            /pause 1
                            /autoinventory

Can bind that hotkey to a movement key or autoattack etc.
