You only need level 55 to get the kit from Bor. You don't need any flags. There are some people who claim this is a bug and it was supposed to be level 62 requirement, but I don't believe that.

You need adjusted 220 skill to make the swatches (or rings or sheets), but those are tradable. Actually making the armor with the kit from Bor is no-fail. BTW, the kit from Bor is kinda bugged (try opening and closing other containers while you have it open), but in a harmless way.

Many of the patterns seem to come from the Tower of Solusek Ro zone, but the named mobs in BoT and PoTactics also usually drop them. Rumor has it that Aerin'dar, and possibly other big bosses in tier 2 zones, have them too, but those don't get killed nearly as much.

The silk turban (cap) pattern sells for really cheap on my server (around 6k to 10k), but the bracer pattern is in much more demand (60k would be cheap, if you can even find one). This surprises me, because there are a bunch of other FT2 and FT3 items in the bazaar for cheaper than the bracer pattern. Plus the bracers are nodrop once made, so zero resell value.

And that is probably the reason why the quest has been set to work unflagged at 55.

Ethereal swatches were going for 200p each in bazaar on Torv so I just bought them.

Despite having the required skill, I couldn't be bothered to delay making the item even 5 minutes when I had already paid 45k for the pattern and 500p to Bors. (Boots of the Khati Sha)

Even if I hadn't being buying the patterns, at 200pp per etheral swatch it would only have cost 400p for swatches to make the boots (and 800p for tunic). Big deal, when you consider the items you are getting. [The boots have FT3 and have far better stats than Boots of Flowing Slime that go for 100k on Torv].

Are you really going to delay getting your uber item just to save a few hundred pp?

Anybody in any position to get ornate can easily afford the bazaar prices on what you need to make the final combines.

The ethereal metal sheets go for around 200pp on my server, and the rings I've seen from 40 to 150pp, but mostly much closer to 40 than 150. I dunno about the silk.

The bricks needed drop like rain in many zones so actually making the ethereal stuff is not an expensive proposition. A modified skill of 220 isn't that rare, either, so you can probably get someone to make the stuff for you dirt cheap, one way or another.

I emptied my bank account buying four pieces of ornate chain this week almost, but still couldn't wait to see what my new armor was like, so I bought most of the ethereal rings I needed even though I'm a 250 smith with plenty of the bricks handy myself. It's exciting to get something new, especially if you almost never get upgrades, so it's hard to not be a little foolish and drop a bit more cash on the ethereal whatchamacallits that your class uses for ornate armors than you should.
