I did end up spending somewhere around 40k to get to 203, which is where i got sick of subcombines and just did the shawl. I'm not sure if its the case on other servers, but on tholuxe silk swatches go for 15-20pp usually, so that increases the price on solstice combines to fairly high levels. The nice thing that i expected to cost more were the chains. I was 37/40 on chain combines so they ended up only costing 280 pp or so each which was lower than i expected. I do have 37 robes now to offset the cost somewhat, but they only sell for around 500-600, so i project net loss to be about 20k.
On a note about the shawl, i had only 2 skill failures through the entire quest. One was a combine to make dough for the baking portion, and the other was a very trivial jewelry combine. I had expected (dreaded) failing the tailoring combines and wasn't really prepared to fail one of the jc ones since i had 250 jc, the trophy, and jewelcraft mastery 3.
