  • lack of tailoring trivials from 150-250

Ive looked through just about every page of tailor recipes, except cultural, and I noticed that between 155-158 (where Wu's ends) and 250 there are few items that have a trivial within that range (150-250). Acrylia Leather armor is the exception.

Is there any items out there I can tailor that (a) wont cost me 15k in supplies, and (b) components are fairly easy to farm, that will get me from 150-to-195ish.

Im ready to do my combine for 7th shawl which is a trivial of 212 and would rather reduce my chances of failure by increasing my skills. 150 skill is a bit to risky for me to attempt this final combine.

Thanks in advance for any tailoring suggetions.

7th shawl is triv at 162 according to the Quest writeup here at EQTraders. I was between 160 and 180 when i did mine no problem.

Most people do it at 158 (when WUs trivials) as it is just as easy to collect the items again than to skill up tailoring.

My advice... 158 on WUs, and dump some cash and go up on LOY Ribbons which can get you up to 188 (or farm and make studded acrylia).

Nothing on the Shawl quest is Trivial over 200.

    Good Luck!

Took me a bit but i found the LOY ribbon info

golden white ribbon = golden ribbon + hickory handled shears + steam dye; 162
golden seagreen ribbon = golden ribbon + elm handled shears + cauldron dye; 167
platinum white ribbon = platinum ribbon + elm handled shears + steam dye; 182

now to track down where to buy those components. I have LoY, but have never been there.

Im on tribunal btw, 59 cleric dwarf, if anyone feels like playing guide =)

Well, the dye is player made...the shears are player made...and the ribbons...well, they are bought in Gunthak in the lighthouse from the gnome tinker guy. He also sells the shears mold. Hope this helps.

            exellent info Mahlig

            Smithing:
hickory handled shears = hickory bow staff + shears mold + metal bits + water flask; 136
elm handled shears = elm bow staff + shears mold + metal bits + water flask; 142

but, mmmmmm sais dye material are foraged in Gukta zone... but nothing else on how to make them.

If you're going to be making all those ribbons anyway, you could use a couple of them to make robes, provided you're the right race and have access to someone with 100+ research skill.

Gold ribbons will take you up to 160something, platinum ribbons to 187 but even the first robe, made with a silver ribbon and a common rune or word, has a trivial of over 210. If you vendor mine the research components, that's a cost of about twenty platinum plus the dye for each combine compared to 105 for a platinum ribbon or several hundred for studded or reinforced acrylia.

Of course, you're a dwarf cleric so that won't help but it is an option for taller and skinnier characters.

Not quite true; the final combine on the sixth shawl is slightly over 200.

If you have not done the 8th Prayer Shawl but are intending to, how about doing the Soft Fur Padding combines (Velium Hound Fur + Silver Thread) between getting 167 and prior to trivial of 176?

                        Where?

Where do you get the Bow staffs, couldn't find any info on where to get those... although i didn't look terribly hard. I could find where everything else can be puchased though.

Any help on locating bow staffs be helpful thx.

I'm doing ribbons up until they're trivial, but after that I'm stuck with acrylia studded because I'm a woodelf. No cultural robes for us. And finding flawless sabertooth hides is harder than getting the rockhopper hides needed for the acrylia. /sigh

I guess I'm probably going to have to break down and do some serious cash farming then use solstice robes to skill up with once I finish the ribbons.

                              Dennli:

Steam dye platinum ribbons will take you to 182. Go to Steamfont and clear the kobold camps by the druid rings - you will get 1-2 steamfont spring water per clearing. The kobolds have about 8 hps each and are a fast respawn.

While you are doing that check bazaar twice a day for bamboo shoots and the other dyes that take plat ribbons from 183 to 187. By the time you hit 182 from steamfont dye you should have enough bamboo shoots and other crap to take you to 187 in one go.

Then you are onto the Acrylia ladder. Also check out Velious furs which are sold in bulk quantities in bazaar. This is more a test of your bank account than your farming skills.
