lack of tailoring trivials from 150-250

Last night i bought 2 stacks of the steam dye in baz for 600pp (15peach). It beats sitting for days foraging. But now ive brought an alt 30 druid to sit in DC and forage the DC Prawns, after 3-4 hours i only have 11. /sigh. I would idealy like to get 2 -3 stacks of these which will take alot of time.

I will take your advice Sashanna and go kill some kobolds in steamfont, if i can forage and loot materials at the same time, this will greatly reduce my component gathering time.

Saturday ill probably take what components I have gathered and do my skill up session.

I wouldn't recommend skilling on platinum ribbons, unless you have a nice pp supply or a tailor that is willing to take the ribbons off you (or if you wanna use them yourselves in the future).

Platinum ribbon is 108pp per ribbon. Resell price of the dyed platinum ribbon to a vendor is something like 30pp. Not exactly a very profitable endeavour.

So if you do not have any use for the platinum ribbon, you're looking at minimum 1500pp loss for each 20 combines. It shouldn't take you many combines to take you from 167 to 187, but still...

When I did it, I kept all my ribbons for when I was going to tailor robes. Instead of doing platinum ribbons, I would recommend doing the first 2 robes (silver ribbon, dye and the swatch made from rune/word/page will be the main expenses) since you can probably pick up the first 2 words for 5-10pp each. And robes have a very high success rate, so you will be able to resell them for 10pp to vendor or even find some lower level players that will take them off you for like 25-50pp.

I would skip platnum ribbons. Solstice robes cost about 50pp per fail, and pre 200 you fail all of them (1 in a million you will succeed one). It becomes more expensive when you start to succeed, near 600pp per success... So as long as you have 50pp per combine you can shell out, its nothign for you to do solstice robes from 160's

Thank you Silound. That's actually very helpful. I already have 2 gem-studded chains for when I start making the solstice robes, but I didn't know what the cost was going to be to make them. That's definitely cheaper than the platinum ribbons, and I have access to a pocket chanter for all my mana vial needs, plus I can imbue my own emeralds, so I'm ahead in that game. As soon as I finish to gold ribbons, I'm off to do robes.

Solstice robes only fail when you don't want them to. If you have two gem studded chains and 40 attempts worth of silk, you will succeed on the first two combines, leaving you with 38 attempts worth of silk and two robes that barely sell for more than the cost of the chain these days.

Definitely go max wis/int and do not use a gearlock when working on robes for skill up. Even doing this, Kirasha managed to average close to 1 in 20 success on robes. 777 attempts and 39 successes.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that too, do not use skill mod gear. In Solstice robes, fail = good. Now, if you will excuse me, I have another 50 combines ready myself.

Well i spent friday and saturday frming the dye materials in SF and DC. Did some combines sunday, using 40 golden ribbons+hickory, 30 golden ribboms+elm, 11 platinum ribbons+elm and went from 158-166.

Spent alot of time and plat on this, and I figured why not give it a try and went through the final series of combines for 7th shawl without failure.

I also spent the weekend tailoring. Got to 167 on ribbons using steamfont spring water to 162, and then ashweed to 167. Then got 7 stacks of silk swatches, spent a couple hours imbuing 7 stacks of emeralds, making celestial essences, making blessed dust of tunare (failed about 1 in 20 with pottery at 212), making the swatches (failed about 1 in 20 with tailoring at 167), and then did final combines for the solstice robe. Made one robe in about 45 attempts and got 4 skill ups, so not too bad. Spent about 3k total.

26 Robes in the Bazaar on Luclin for 325pp right now. In the good old days I would get 1800pp each, and even sold a few for over 3K each when a few days went by without any being sold. The sickles seem to be the only item left from the PotC quest that are holding their value, over 50 available in the bazaar with a lowest price of 1500pp (40 at that price).

Robes were recently selling for 125pp each on E'ci, with multiple sellers and significant volume at that price. *sob*

(By contrast, I've sold Lucky Cabbages for almost that much.)

Fishing Poles aren't a skillup route, which is why they're holding value somewhat more (on Xev they go from 900-1200 normally, though you'll see a few for more or less). Robes go for a few hundred at best; there's a lesson in there somewhere...
