I've already essentially stopped making haversacks. I'm trying to meet up with a couple people to make some, then I'm pretty much done.

They are a pain to make.

    * You can't throw them on a mule and sell them when you are offline.

    * Making them on commission involves running to several zones to get the materials (Shadow Haven, Thurgadin, and Misty Thicket). Or, it means having some cash tied up in Platinum Threads, and still running around to a couple zones. This does not even include the time it takes to get Misty Acorns.

    * The profit on them is pretty bad considering how much time is spent.

The person I'm currently trying to catch up with has over 240 tufts. Normally I make woven fur while medding between fights. This time, I will have to sit in some zone doing nothing but combining furs (That's about 90 combines). Then the blue diamond combines. Then ......

I know there are a few GM Halfling tailors on Luclin. I never see them auction to sell haversacks. I have never had anyone refuse (or even comment on) 7kpp as a price (for strangers), but I don't normally use /auction. To date, I've only sold about 8 of them, though. Normally to friends or guildmates of friends. My monk gets my mistakes (for some reason, I have trouble counting to 4 and so have made 2 backpacks when I meant to make haversacks :P ), and my enchanter carries around a couple of them.

I've only once seen someone /auction to buy a haversack. For various reasons, I didn't follow up on it, so don't know what they were expecting to pay.

I charge 5200 pp on Cazic-Thule just to keep the tinkerers bag from being an issue. I take trades for mine also, if it is something I can use.

That is a good idea, Tarhune. Its going to sell better at the same price or less than a tink bag, while still giving a profit I'd imagine.

The problem was they made tink bags so good for weight reduction, then they have a 10 slot bag limit, so there was no room for a crafted bag to actually be "better." If the tink bag was only 90 or even 95 percent weight reduce, then this bag would sell well for 6 k plat.

Oh it's far from an issue of selling well. At 6k it sold fine, I rarely had one on me for more than an hour if I wanted to sell it and an order list that grew to 12 names at one point.

The issue (for me) was entirely the people who weren't content to say to themselves "oh that's more than a tinker bag which is sufficient for my needs, I pass", but take it to tells with me about 1) what a ripoff that is, 2) they assume nobody ever buys them, 3) they are doing me a service about explaining that there's a Marfen Dinkburple in sola who sells comparable bags.

They sell fine at 6k+. You just have to be prepared for the people who won't hesitate to preach at you because of it. If I could stick them on a bazaar mule where I can blissfully go /afk they'd go at 7.5k and stay there. The profit margin on these isn't that great. It takes 3 celestial tempers just like your cultural BPs, 3 platinum threads (630pp unavoidable cash cost), tufts in abundance and a lot of time running around.

I also rarely have bags on me for more than a couple hours. Yes there are those folks who try to offer me 1 or 2k then get offended when I say "no I can't let it go for that". I actually took a tinkerers bag in trade for a haversack once, I just put that on an alt. The bottom line is, those people who know the difference between a haversack and a tinkerers bag will normally be more likely to buy a haversack. I would imagine the monk community just loves them.

Sell them for 6k on Quellious to those who aren't on the Tinker Bag kick. SoE needs to make the Tinker Bag a difficult drop or make it lore. Better yet, reduce the weight on the Leathfoot Haversack to something like 0.2 or 0.3. That would be a better solution.

Yep. The only class that notices the difference between Tink and Haver are monks. Add enough of the Haversacks and you have significant weight reduction. They sell best at 6k to monks.

I've sold a few at 6.5K, though I rarely advertise since it's a pain to make them. Most of the ones I've made are for close friends and guildmates when they have ALL the ingredients ready to go for me to make the haversacks. This is on Lanys server. I only know of 2 people (halflings) that can make them currently.

                    WoW,

I've been charing 4k, seems like I need to up my price =p

I charge my friends 2500 for the bags and have a large list to make them, however if they are willing to grab the components on their own I don't charge a thing since I'm at 216 tailoring.

                    Kinda nice to compare prices

Smaller bags are the way to go-

If you really want to sell and make a profit on the leatherfoot bags, here is what I have discovered -

On tunare server I am a halfling tailor of 189 skill.

In approxiametely 35 combines of the leatherfoot shoulderbag (6 slot bag) I have had a total of 4 failures.

I currently have 2 bags on my toon, and I have sold the other 29 - at 2300 to 2500pp .

This equals a great deal of profit for me and helps to offset my current tailoring skillup expenses.

a 40 or 50 pct margin covers the costs of infrequent failures and affords me to stock the supplies for the rare "I want 4" tells which I have received.

The classic tink bag argument is moot as well. The price is less than half the cost of the tink bags, and has 6 slots making this a very good bag for those who are not able to justify dropping the plat for the tink bag.

additionally, as I sell the 6 slot ones, people have been telling me that they would pay 7 - 8k per haversack, which sounds very reasonable to me, once I increase skills more.
