As for int casters (and monks!) not having much in the way of tailored armor...

Maybe mind worm hides should start dropping from xakra in the grey, or something? Shaded hide armor, with a recommended level of 40, looks like decent midlevel int caster armor, and some pieces would be nice for monks too. The problem seems to be the mind worm hides, which I have never seen drop...

Since the Int casters got their new nifty robes (The Robe of Skewn looks really cool) would it be reasonable for similar racial recipes using furs/skins to be added for Wis casters? It would not have to be uber or anything but just a nice mid-range Tunic. It would fit right into LoY since Froggies have Wis casters.
      This is the original question.

      My answer is, "Why?"

Making things "equal" for all races/classes would make for a very boring game. I feel the developers have already gone too far in this direction.

Wisdom casters already have some very nice items for mid-range. Need I point out Othmir Fur Caps, Cobalt Drake Belts, Studded Acrylia Cloaks, Studded/Reinforced Acrylia Tunics, Arctic Wyvern Tunics for Shaman, & etc? Silk classes were essentially left out of the Velious Tailoring due to the problem with hunting Ice Burrowers. They got nothing from Luclin. They got some very nice High-end items from PoP, and now the field is filling in for the mid-range. On my server, Luclin, leather wisdom items are as cheap or cheaper than the corresponding "leveled" weapons and armor for plate and chain-based characters.

I know of a bard (/wave Krystalsinger) who was having trouble getting her int up for tradeskilling (int is a primary stat for bards). Instead, we set her up with a bunch of wisdom-based leather gear for very little cash & she is much better off for tradeskilling. Her only complaint is that it makes her look like a druid, but I just ignore that comment.

Silk classes had virtually nothing between newbie (raw silk) and uber (PoP silk) -- excluding some cultural. This just fills in the gap.

Shaded hide armor is decent midlevel armor, yeh.. the wristbands and tunic are even usable at higher levels.

The problem isn't only the exceptionally slow drop of mind worm hides... but consider, a decent group pulling robes for 6-8 hours will generally see 0-2 pieces of the shaded armor drops as well... we're also talking a group to whom none of the armor will be worth using, except the tunic and wristband. As a tailor, i have better luck getting groups to WW to farm iceburrowers.

With the drop rates now, collecting enough for a single skillup (averaging say 20 attempts per), it would take a group somwhere in the range of 2 weeks, just to gather the armor pieces.... then theres the rarer mind worm hides...

How could I have forgotten shaded hide armor? I used it on my enchanter until I got a Bracelet of Comprehension. Thanks for reminding me, but I don't think it really changes the answer, since these are a real pain to get.

I've forgotten what the shaded armor drop rates are like...all I know is I have a full 12 piece set rotting away in the bank, and I've never seen a single mind worm hide to put them to use.

My point was the armor is in place, it's just too much of a pain to make right now. Rather than trying to get more armor types added, maybe we should try to make it more reasonable to make existing armor...

              Note

Have non-imbued versions which can be used by more than just the kitties, and have an 'Imbue: Luclinite' which is restricted to Vah Shir only (circumventing the 'agnostic' issue)
Restricting a spell to a specific race will not prevent a member of the same class and the wrong race from scribing it.

My Erudite Shadowknight could scribe a Cure Disease scroll with "BAR TRL OGR IKS VAH" as the listed races. Most spell scrolls are "Race: None."

Love that little beastlord database fix (adding BAR TRL OGR IKS VAH to every item that was beastlord usable, including stuff like the Stone of Morid, which was Iksar only for ages, but I digress.)

Anyway, if you make it nodrop, the Firiona Vie kids (*hi mom!*) will still be able to buy it and scribe it.

Maybe it could be part of their class-specific quests? The ones that stem out of the Citizenship quest, I mean.

Another option is "Only Vah Shir can use this (insert racial tradeskill container here)."

My reason why was not necessarily for the wearing of the armor but rather a set of armor with mid-range TRIVIALS with components achievable by a mid-level Barbarian. Acylia is really only an option after level 40 and even then it's tough to get the superb rockhopper hides.

I think that was originally meant to be the point.
The robes have screwed this up, which is just one of the reasons I'm annoyed with them.
