Thats exactly what I do as well. Just get those 5 static spawns outside Dalnir and you can get some decent results camping them.

For me the bigger obstacle is acorns, not hides, but neither is particularly plentiful. There are almost always HQ brute hides in the bazaar, though not necessarily at a rational price, but acorns are much rarer. I spent nine hours this weekend in Dreadlands, pulling random mobs (I pulled for a while when my group was caster-heavy, so mob selection was less random), and got four HQ and a small handful of regular hides. I haven't done the Dalnir caves recently, but that might be an option. Most of what I get I end up buying at prices that aren't murderous; there seems to be at least sporadic awareness of what these are for, though I've never actually grouped with anyone who understood why I saved them. And while bazaar sales of imbued vale reinforced make plate tectonics look like a spectator sport, it's better than nothing.
Acorns are a different matter. My druid (150 foraging skill) has produced a grand total of four acorns, ever, compared with a couple dozen times he's found a sweetened mudroot. I have a standing practice of leveling an alt in Misty, and I /auc for them every time I'm in zone, but only occasionally find any up for grabs. That leaves ground spawns. I did find an old map of acorn spawns, but found it not to be particularly illuminating; it turns out that my A-1 acorn finder is my nightblind monk, sent out into the thicket under cover of darkness when the moonlight shines through the mist at just the right angle. My average yield for a quick scamper up and down the zone is one acorn.

Misty Acorns on Rathe
One thing I have noticed on the acorns -- on the rare occassion that I see one on the ground, the chance of foraging one at that same spot right after picking up the groundspawn is very high. So, I get 2 in a blue moon rather than one
Another thing... I can usually find these in the bazaar on Rathe. I'd say almost half the time I look for them I can get a stack. Of course, the prices fluctuate from 5p to 20p

You are lucky on Drizzle Ro the usually go for 100 pp a nut
I have 4 ground spawns known so far
I am also curious about the respawn rate of these elusive nuts

Scientists say 1 out of every 4 people is crazy, check 3 friends, if they are ok, you're it.
24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence?
