    Flawless advice

My advice is to save all the Flawless hides until you pass 188. Of course if you are a power skiller, combine whatever you can get right away.

    Why wait?

Well, unless you are uber rich, you will want to at get SOMETHING out of your combines, even if it is below cost. Acrylia reinforced was something I always made piece of armor out of and sold. Tunic, Arms, Legs, Boots can sell. Really. Just price it reasonably and don't flood the market. Keep the extras in the bank.

If you don't wait, you'll end up failing more and losing more potential money.

And more importantly, I know I really regretted not having saved every single Flawless until after 188. Because at some point, you will likely run out fo components. (Once again, if you are a rich power skiller, then you won't have to worry).

Pet the puppy. (You're still thinking about it, aren't you?)

Scratch him behind the ears. (No, not caster-only armor! Stop that!)

Your blanket advice? So instead of thinking about ARMOR made from the puppy fur, we should be thinking about making a blanket from it?

If your only goal is to get tailoring to 180+ for the 6th shawl keep farming and go ahead and use the stock you have until you run out or reach your goal. Use your flawless first then the wyvern for better chances of gains in hopes of skill ups on the Reinforced.

If you are planning to take tailoring all the way save the flawless and the wyvern and keep farming for the superb and backstocking. Ninty hides may seem like alot but they won't take you nearly as far as you hope.

I'm not positive where I saw this information but it seems to be true for me: You get better skill gains on items that are within 50 skill points from trivial. At 169 you aren't within 50 points of either Reinforced Acryillia or Artic Wyvern, while you will see some gains you won't see nearly as many gains as with the same number of studded combines. At 170 skill I burned through about 1/2 of my Artic Wyvern stash (100 combines) for 2 skill ups before I took the good advice to go back to Studded. Skill ups on Velinous armors are dramatically increased after 200. Since that time I've followed the 50 skill points yard stick as much as possible. My only deviation was occasional robe run pre 200 cursing everytime I got a success and had to have more chains made (post 210 I will no longer make robes for skill ups as they no longer sell well enough to make my cash flow acceptable).
