    2. Finding a HIE tailor who did the Master Level Quest. The HIE tailor in our guild at the time skipped that option entirely and only did the grandmaster quest. Wasnt about to ask him to do the task for a few hp/mana upgrade

I ended up just buying the expert robe in the baz for like 500pp, and put in for the Demiplane robe the next time it dropped.
There seems to be an issue with #2: You only need a HIE Tailor to make the armor. The armor, however, is independant of needing the Journyman, Expert, Master, Grandmaster level patterns. Anyone that has the book of patterns to make Grandmaster ARMOR can make the Master or Journeyman armor with the right supplies.

However, for Symbols, the Journeyman, Expert, Master, GM books are necessary, however, GM symbols fit into any level of armor, just as Master Symbols will fit in any level of armor. Symbols also can be made by any race/class/diety given you have the proper items, skills and pattern book. Generally speaking, there is no reason to bother with the Journeyman through Masters books unless you are twinking lower level alts with the symbols.

While I completely understand your decision to go with Expert's based on the materials for your Master's armor...the above part is immaterial. The armor quest is generally a newbie-type, hand-in-four-easy-item quest and gives the patterns that are used in all 4 levels of cultural armor. There is no Mastery Level armor quest, only the Symbols have tiered quests that need be completed. If he can make the armor at all, he can make all levels of it (assuming he has the dropped components and the RNG is nice enough to him.)

This has been mentioned a few times, and it is a very nice fix that resolves 90% of the issues on the GM armor:

"I really like the suggestion of an NPC that will swap em out. But, to be fair, make him cycle through all three items. Meaning, if you give him a scale he gives you a silk, if you give him a silk he gives you a hide, and if you give him a hide he returns a scale."

Short of reviewing drop rates, adjusting drop rates, and changing recipes to make everyone happy.....this npc would be a wonderful band-aid to this problem.

But why stop there? Look at the drops for the Master armor and have it cycle thru the ingredients needed for each race: Shissar Scales, turn it in and it becomes a Great Reptile Hide, turn in the hide and it becomes Storm Giant hair.....etc. Then everyone could just farm Shissar Scales and be happy

Last night on Zek there were 4 silks in bazaar for ~40k per. At the same time, there were 40 each of MDS and GDH going for 12-15k per. Some guy broke down and bought the silks to make a cap. Failed. 160k gone in a blink and no 2nd chances until someone else finally offers some to sell. Hell someone sold my buyer a stack of MDS for 15k per after this happened. Its ridiculous that silk classes are getting screwed this hard and for this long.

But I imagine the "fix" will be bundled in with the new expansion as an extra incentive to buy it...

Since I still plan on addressing it by addressing drop rate.

It may happen at the same time, but you will not need the new expansion for it.

(note the plan and may in there)

The drop rate is probably fine, the issue is everyone seems to prefer doing Creator mission which doesn't drop any silk but do drop GDH and MDS. I remember hearing something about a change to DoN missions to change the crystals reward based on the popularity of missions. If that is correct and Creator becomes unpopular due to merger reward, more may look elsewhere including Lavastorm and more silks would flow into bazaar.

Of course doubling the drop rate of the silk would be nice since it takes 2 to make a swatch so as many as 6 per armor is needed when GDH and MDS needs only 1 to 3

Just make Drachnids drop em, rather than lock em into DoN content.

In other words, if we are lucky, it may get fixed "some time after the next expansion is released"... Now, where/when did we hear that before...

Didn't it take like a whole 2 weeks for the Archeologist Flottwit to be patched, after the patch that made some items from Ruins of Illsalin "no drop". And that is with over a dozen different items being traded. It still seems to me that an NPC that would do the exchange cycle Metallic drake scales --> Glossy drake hides --> Coarse silk swatch --> Metallic drake scales and the same thing for master's armor would be the trivial way to put all races/classes on the same foot without having to submit Ph.D. thesis on itemization as justification...

Or did we somehow miss the justification for penalyzing all silk classes for 3 expansions in regard to GM armor, and other mix of races/classes on Master's armor and below?

I understand you are upset but there's no need to take that tone with Ngreth, any Dev, or even fellow posters, for that matter.

This thread's original purpose was to document missions in which Coarse Silk drops, and has been derailed, so I am closing the thread.

Anyone opening future discussions about DoN Cultural drops should read the Rules in The Visitor's corner and remember to keep the discussion civil at all times.
