I am still not believing it. We have major farmers on CT and if there was a way to do that, it would have been done already. The VERY rare silks that do appear in the bazaar, pop up at the rate of about 3 per week and go for 50-65k each. If someone could make a million plat per day (every day), they would be doing it.

IF it happens on your server, congratulations, but I can guarantee you that it does not happen on mine.

Do the DoN Tier 5 progression mission in The Nest, the one where you have to turn in remains to a pet. Plenty of spiders there, we got a coarse spider silk and 2 MDS and 2 GDH in one run through it.

Or as someone suggested, just have a new NPC in the bazaar exchanging 1 glossy drake hide or 1 metallic drake scales for a coarse silk swatch. Since it's taking 3 expansions to figure out how to change the drop rate... It works for the archeologist gnome that replace "no drop" items by archaic ones... That would not affect the over all introduction of GM armor, just perfom the rebalancing that we've been waiting for 15+ months...

The way this is going, this is rapidly becoming the first issue in my EQ career that might actually make me quit. As correctly stated above, 15+ months, and still not even a scintilla of hope for a fix. No dates, nor even, as far as I can tell, any plans, to fix this.

Not one single coarse silk has entered my servers bazaar in 4 months of looking, and I just don't have the capability to pharm it myself. The prospect of continuing to pass on Last Blood's I can't use simply becuase I am a silk class is just so manifestly unfair and cruel. Having spent so much effort on tradeskills and raids to get access to the pinacle of tradeskills, only to be denied the rewards at the final hurdle, makes me weep with frustration.

The really sad thing is that the issue was identified shortly after DoN came out. Some developer(s) in the EQ hierarchy just don't give a rat's behind.

Knew the drop rate we got from my earlier post was a little excessive. But yeah, the drops we get on this mission are more in par with what your getting.

This got me thinking .... do the EQ Devs have access to tools like EQ Econ?(im assuming its not bad taste to mention that site since i linked to it from here).

Taking a look at some of their reports you can see how ridiculous the difference is between Drake Scales and Coarse Silks is. It looks like some severs (like yours Ysall, and my current server) havent had silks for sale in months while you have others that have like 14 at a time, but sell for 80k+ EACH.

Compare that to my home server where i was able to pick 40 MDS in abou 10 minutes with NO problems for around 10K a piece.

Aye I can feel your pain Chakua, I was finally able to farm enough silks to get myself a piece of GM gear for my Last blood, but I have recently taken to soloing to get em to sell, and I'll admit I sell them at 50k a piece, considering the amount of work it takes to solo to get one, I'm a Enchanter so it's not exactly easy heh, though doable.

After having several pieces of GM Duskwoven that I combined on spec sit on my trader for a while, I've started doing the same thing. I find that selling the silks is far more profitable than combining them. As long as the availablilty and market for silks remain as they are, I prefer to let someone else eat the loss when the RNG frowns upon me. I have no shortage of people wanting me to do Dark Elf GM combines for hire, though, so people are getting silks, but not without several times the amount of effort required to get scales or hides.

Surely they should fit in the master's armours as well?
It might not be ideal, but it should fit.

They do indeed fit into Master's armour, and as a last resort, for many races, thats a feasible option. Unfortunately, for High Elves, this is less of an option, as we use Storm Volaas hair for our master armour (how I wish I'd rolled a class that uses nightmare silk). If you try pharm this in the plane of storms, you will rapidly see why this is a problem. The camp is a real swine to pharm (and practically impossible for many classes to solo) due to the mass adds that reward even the best pullers.

As a High Elf, I had to settle for an expert lvl BP for my last blood aug (like i said earlier, my tailor failed the GM robe combine 2 times).

Well you could at least have made a Master level one. . . :P

MDS on my server are 20-25k, and Coarse Spider silk is 30-50k (and rarely ever sold). There is only 1 high elf tailor doing GM armor I think, and they only started selling stuff about a month ago.

And there's the root of the problem. The droprate of silks is lower to begin with and is extended by the fewer numbers of spiders decently available.

I really like the suggestion of an NPC that will swap em out. But, to be fair, make him cycle through all three items. Meaning, if you give him a scale he gives you a silk, if you give him a silk he gives you a hide, and if you give him a hide he returns a scale.

We'd still be unfairly screwed by the fact that we need twice as many silks, but at least we could finally get some .. even if it takes twice as many turn-in items.

There's absolutely no way they can say that can't be done. Many, many quests use that mechanic to cycle rewards.

Yes, but then I run into 2 problems

                                1. (Like Ysall said) having to farm PoStorms for the Giant hairs ... which i did try. Was a pain to pull because of adds and named, and after getting only 1 hair after 2 clearings I moved on. Checked the baz for a while not much luck there.

                                2. Finding a HIE tailor who did the Master Level Quest. The HIE tailor in our guild at the time skipped that option entirely and only did the grandmaster quest. Wasnt about to ask him to do the task for a few hp/mana upgrade

I ended up just buying the expert robe in the baz for like 500pp, and put in for the Demiplane robe the next time it dropped.
