    Indeed.

The only thing that really limits cultural armor is the type 7 aug slot.

There's quite a few newer ones that are pretty good (65/65/65 and better), but it still falls a tad short not being able to use the big type 8's.

Cultural is a great way to fill in around raid drops .. or even forego many of them altogether.

I wear 5 cultural pieces, myself (only 1 GM, though .. /e shakes fist at silk drops)

That's exactly what I tell most casters to do. I made master silk legs, and then a GM augment to put in them (using smithing and 1 MDS). The legs+augment cost me less than 1/3rd the cost of a single attempt at GM legs.

        Ok...seriously

I didn't know this was an issue until I started farming it for guild. The drop rate is ridiculous considering that silk wearers need twice as many of these to make a single piece. That is downright unfair. The missions that drop these have minimal crystal drop and no loot drop. Why would someone spend their time doing this when they can bot a Creator and pull in tons of crystals and several MDS or GDH?

Devs need to stop skirting around this issue and fix it. Not at some point in the future but as soon as possible. How hard is it to double the drop rate? It wasn't that hard to change Crystallized Sulfur and that was less of a problem and it was changed in a matter of weeks. This has been a problem for how long?

Right now, there are 40 GDH and MDS for sale in the bazaar on Cazic-Thule. The average price is 27k. Coarse Spider Silk? TWO at 60k.

        Fix it.

          re: kiting Death Comes Swiftly

Some necros can kite Ascent. I can't--the zillion dips and hills mean I never have line of sight between beginning to cast a spell and finishing the cast. Test out the un-instanced Ascent and see how far you get.

          re: raiders desiring GM armor

Every piece we buy frees up raid points to bid on shiny only-raid-dropped gear. A bard in my guild burnt half his raid points on a classy bard rapier, not leaving enough to even hope for a plate BP drop, so he's buying BP and legs. (DoN GM armor may be the only armor level where the drops are close to the proper proportion of plate/leather/chain/silk wearers, oddly enough. . .)

          re: master's leggings

With the type 11 slot taken by a GM aug, those look quite similar to the spellsheen leggings that rot from Odiumate Ikaav (MPG). There must be a better slot to equip your master's armor.

True, but you can't put a Bazu or Last Blood Aug into the Spellsheen Leggings.

I agree the situation with GM silk is terrible. I have yet to produce even one piece for myself, let alone for sale. It almost seems as if most tailors(that are lucky) get just enough swatches to make some GM for themselves and thats about it. For example there this one theiveing swine that put up 30!! silks for sale at the low low price of 50k Per..MmmmMMmmm lets see, to make a robe, thats 50x2x3 ...gee only 300k to produce one robe, Im gonna jump all over that . As far as farming them in death comes quickly instance, you need the requisite 2 friends to help out. Then you get to fight immune to run speed spiders that dont hit super hard, but hard enough, then slog through the generally lousy drop rate on them to get the 4 -6 you need to makes a single piece. Additionally, in my bazzar if you do a /Grandmaster you get no shortage of Leather\ Plate GM for sale, silk pieces...lets see....None. The rare times one does come up for sale the prices on it are simply astromical(eveyone seems to be selling leather\plate for 150kish. Ive not seen a silk robe under 250 and most were higher.

So what we took to doing on plate leather and silk was simply build High end gear useing

              Base-Master xxx Armor
Type 7 -Highest end aug-DAIN MM aug 60/60/60 aug etc
              Type 11-GM aug
Type 12-Our aug of choice is the 40/40 5 to all stats aug(680 ebons level.)

With this you can easily build a BP\Robe or other slots into the 200-250 HP/MANA range quite readily without spending outrageuos amounts of plat. For me and my leather\plate friends it nicely filled out slots with stats we would have had a hard time approaching otherwise. Now that some of us won DoD chest pieces we finally phased the master+augs out. But we never bought a single piece of GM at any point. Im still hopeing to enought coarse to make even a single piece. Maybe some day...

50k is cheap... I would have bought a bunch if that was on my server.

Try 85-90k and you only see 1 or 2 for sale total in a stretch lasting months.

I agree with you 100% This has annoyed me to no end since /Feedback in-game doesn't help. (And I've been patient waiting for months since I realize changes in drop rates shouldn't be rushed.)

Seems the designers responsible doesn't care to wonder why coarse silk is so much more expensive than other GM components, when you also need more of them. Or why GM Silk armor simply isn't for sale while you can find non-coarse silk GM armor for sale.

Shouldn't take that long to check /barter prices and realize that if you need twice the components, the prices people ask for it should be half, not double/triple, presuming the end product is of equal value to the respective class.

Alright, attacking the devs, even if you don't name names, is not acceptable.

The Devs DO care, I assure you, but there are many Many MANY things in EQ that need attention, and the priorities are what they are.

Ngreth has stated many times that he does want to review and adjust drop rates where appropriate, but he has other assignements, like it or not.

You can't just slap a quick fix on something...it will almost always cause more problems.

                      This thread is now closed.

You want to vent your frustration, go let out a yell or two in The Primal Scream forum. But remember, keep it clean and don't attack fellow posters or the Devs.
