  • 252+ ?

Im just about to get as many skill points as I possibly can with corathus entrails and Ive already tried farming holgresh fur, othmir fur, and storm volaas hair (masters High Elf) and none of them seems like a particularly good option. Ive looked into prepared sporali skins but that doesnt look too much better and it wont take me to 300. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a better route? It's terribly frustrating how rare these items are and no one sells them in the bazaar.

Id even do something with lots and lots of subcombines if the parts were plentiful. Ele armor isnt really an option for me as I joined my guild long after theyd progressed past ele planes.

Othmir fur is what I'm doing for High Elf. Seemed to be the least amount of farming when I looked over a skillup path because I can AE them fairly quickly.

There are a few other things you can gather as well in addition to the othmir, although not sure how fast quickly you'll be able to stockpile them. You can do the quest for your Master Book and do master aug combines (farm nightmare arachnid silk and crushed diamond dust, which are much more common now since PoR). Also, you could gather items for DoD seal combines, although the tailoring components aren't as common as the smithing ones as far as I've seen (shimmering silk, mottled hide, magnificent hide, fine silk ... all above 300 triv).

Others might have better suggestions though because I've put my high elf tailoring on the back burner while I work on my vah shir's. Thank goodness the shissar scales aren't nearly as hard to come by as the stinking storm volaas hair.

Just from experience, Othmir Fur and Holgresh fur do require tons of farming but the drops overall seem to be more consistant and more plentiful then any other option for tailoring past 252.

I also did Elemental Tailoring (Firehide, Stonehide, Earthweave, etc.).

Expensive, but they sell pretty well.

And Dream Haunt Bracers are fairly decent Tribute.

Don't forget robes. Robe of Virtue can get you to 262 and tributes for 3000.

I've got components myself for about 80 combines for my robe to 262, I just need to get close enough to pull the trigger.

I've been doing anything I can get my hands on in that skill range, and haven't had particularly good luck with anything in terms of skillups. I average 10-15 furs per hour at the othmir camp, and it isn't uncommon for me to go through 100-150 furs consistently with no skill ups. I'm still plugging away at it though, eventually I'm bound to get a skill up.

LOL Hey Ailish, how you doin?

I actually have people in the guild saving all the above listed items pretty much. The nightmare arachnid silk and crushed diamond dusts are pretty rare too. I get the impression it will likely have to be holgresh furs for me, they seemed to yield the most combines for me anyways.

The robe of virtue sounds like an interesting option to 262 at least. I have to see what drop rates on lichenclover are. I have the advantage of a 220 forager that I can box which makes stuff I can forage/farm at the same time a nice choice.

Thank you for all your suggestions, open to any more you may have.

*edit* I forgot to ask what you all though about the viability of the feran / murkglider blood combines for 252+? I doubt it makes sense, but I could solo farm wos too if the drop rate was good enough.

Murkglider and Feran armor is decent to 262. I found that when it started taking more than 2 blood per combine it was less stress to go with othmir/holgresh combines.

Since 262 I've been working my way up through the Othmir/Holgresh stuff. I've also been doing PoP tailoring combines when I can get my hands on the stuff for them (PoN leather isn't bad if you can get midnight stones). I'd save your Velium Mastodon/Velium Hound/Ice Burrower silks until you get past 295 if you can stand having the things laying around while you claw your way up to that level. Unfortunantly I couldn't. /sigh. Back to the holgresh cave for me.

                Best of luck!

Maybe they drop better in WoS - but hunting murks and ferans in NC only netted 3 in a few hundred kills so I abandoned that route. These also are usually priced 2k+ each from what I've seen so not a buyable option either.

As many have posted I just hop between CS and WL depending on who else is farming whenever I'm at a down time (being a druid helps with this!). As a halfling I'm one of the "unfortunate" races that can't do Master armor for skillups unless somebody someday decides to correct the drop rates on the Great Reptile Hides to make similar to Shissar Scales.

u tried doing master augs instead? i know that requires doing the book quest but those arent restricted by race or combine container thankfully

Master's augs use Crushed Diamond Dust <--- Also not a viable option for skilling up if you've ever tried farming these or purchase in bazaar as both are very limited in supply.

What about old world cultural tailoring? You'd have to know/have access to an enchanter over 49 to enchant the metal, but the Trivial is 335 and there are recipies that only take 1 misty acorn, 1 HQ Brute hide, 1 plains pebble, and 1 Blue diamond. Given the prices of othmir/holgresh furs (and the resell/tribute value) it could be a viable route - It would just mean saving or /buyering blue diamonds, forage/AE/buyer for the rest over time till you have a good collection.

...and HQ brute hides have a drop rate similar to the rumored "pre-nerf" Greater reptile teeth and hides. Not to mention that someone chopped down all the misty acorn trees, si dont plan on foraging many of these.

My suggestion would be Prepared Sporali Skin till 276, but that will require some farming, unless you want to pay insane prices in the bazaar. The recipe is Sporali Skin + Witheran Bile + Skinning Knife. The Bile is pretty easy to farm all things considered, and the Sporali Skins aren't as rare as some make them out to be. Of course somedays several will drop, and other days hardly any will.
