My personal worst was going from 216 to 217 in smithing. 632 combines for ONE LOUSY skillpoint.

I expect to have at least one run similar to that in each tradeskill I try to take to 300.

I haven't counted extended cost or combines on Tailoring since I was at skill level 9 and bear pelts were taking up all my bank space because they weren't stackable (yet). Yes, I've been doing it a long time.

Don't keep track. It's less painful. Figure out one skillup at a time or 3 or 4 at the most.
Gather anything you can get a skillup off of, it's the only way to stay sane doing this skill.

Now excuse me while I go froth rabidly as I work on my last 5 points.

Which means 500 combines from now I may get 300.

Actually what's easier at least for the first 1/2 is farming sporali skin and witheran bile.

FYI. If you're in a raiding guild, there's a named Sporali in an instanced zone off Corathus Creep that you can do as a raid mob.

He's big and permarooted, and he spawns swarms and swarms of tiny little mushroom adds as you fight him. To clear the adds, we set up a PBAE killing field for the little guys, and lo and behold they drop Sporali loot, including the skins.

We wiped to the boss, but I got about a dozen Sporali Skins in the space of ten minutes.

Nightmare Arachnid silk for master's augments? Am I missing something? isn't Crushed Diamond Dust, rare as heck, needed to make the water? I can get 50 silks easily in the time it takes to get 1 Crushed Diamond Dust.

Crushed diamond dust is more plentiful now with the introduction of PoR.

That's great news. Must explain why there are so many (22) for sale in the bazaar on my server. I'm not being sarcastic, that is many more than I noticed before.

However, the sellers haven't gotten the word. The prices range from 4K to 8K each. And today is the first time I've seen as low as 4K.

If I bought those 22, which MIGHT give me one skillup, it would cost me 112,489 plat.

I've started a buyer today, buying for 2500p each. So far no bites.

Well, each server's economy is different, but I'm thinking the prices really will have to come down. I have six crushed diamond dust sitting in my bank just from hunting PoR zones lately. Before I felt pretty lucky if I had one.

The drop rate may have been bumped up in older zones as well. While farming SG for the scavenger hunt quest I looted 4 CDD in 30 minutes. Before PoR release, I've gotten only 1 over the course of hours (probably 20 hours) waiting for a named walrus to pop for my beast epic.

Could be odd luck or something. ah well not complaining

I've had my buyer up (second account, so he's up most of the time) since March 16, and I'm very disappointed.

In that time I've bought 25 Crushed Diamond Dust (for 2500 each). Recently more buyers have popped up offering 2500 for the item, and sometimes I see one who offers 3500.

I also did manage to clear the non-siren mobs in SG and got a lot of good stuff (the haste belt and gems that sell well), but not a single CCD. I know one clearing is not a good basis but sheesh.

None in one clearing? You had bad luck. I got 3 in just 30 minutes in SG while farming collector stuff for the anniversary quest.

Back to the subject, I've had buyer up offering for othmir fur and most of the time I'm the highest buyer but had only 1 or 2 fur per week. Probbaly from people who killed othmir for the anniversary quest.

I started a crusade against the otters last weekend. In 12 hours farming, I got 121 furs - so I'm averaging 10 furs an hour. I have no idea if that is typical. I'll be going back again soon.

That sounds about right. The middle camp usually drops the most (since more othmir there) but north camp seems to be the stingiest one. In all I can remember, maybe 2 or 3 total from north camp over 6 hours of slaughter.

Went back last night after raids, 4 hours and 60 furs, so it was about 15 per hour. The sad thing though, I did all the combines... 80 total, and only 1 skillup. This is going to be a long road.
