There are racial imbalances in your class/diety/race choices everywhere... you just have to look hard enough. Why do my human paladin need ultravision where my dark elf necro and rogue can see freely at night? Why can't I be an ogre paladin? Why do humans have to have 3 swatches and use three patterns for the cultural charms while dwarves use one? Why do iksars and trolls get regen as a base of their class? Why do Iksar start with 100 swiming? Why do ogres get to be unstunnable from the front? Why do only gnomes tinker, rogues make poison, enchanters get JCM and shaman work with alchemy? Why do paladins have less DPS than a rogue?

Yes, I am sure everyone wants everything equal and fair. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if all drops dropped as fast as shissar scales. It may seem like bad business, but all races/classes do have their advantages and disadvantages. There were drop discrepancies with old culturals too. Heck, half elves didn't even get cultural.

To the keyed zone comment that a level 55 can't access Plane of Storms, that is wrong. Plane of Storms is an open zone to all starting at lvl 55 regardless of if you passed the trials or not. That change has been in the game for years.

I will agree there are serious problems with the drop rates of various armors, Great Reptile Drops are one of the biggest culprits.

The problem I have always noticed is that there is the constant push for people not to solo and in most cases, not to even have the option. When they axed Velious Leather tailoring, that pretty much highlighted that they did not like the idea that someone could just kill green cons and finish a tradeskill. It's just the way the game is.

        HAHAHA.

I missed that expansion. I just have a bunch of old dirty bags and sewing kits in a old rusty vault.

Is "near 60" the intent for all Master level drops?

Well I'm glad to hear about the change to Storm Voliass Hair.

I have maybe 5 now, after 2 nights of camping them. And while the giants may be doable with some effort, it was still a chore and horrible drop rates. I had one of the named aggro and we (70 mag/68 cleric) gave it a try, only to have cleric get killed by that swarm of "storm cloud" mobs that the giants do (had forgotten about those. . . ) and I had to gate out in a hurry.

If they were for GM level, it would be fine. But it's a bit much for a master level ingredient.

Wyvernwill your point about the advantage of the abilities of the different races is not a good example. The differences in abilites such as vision and resistance to stun are offset by the exp penalty that the different races have. Humans have few abilites but are one of the fastest if not fastest to gain levels.

The differences in tradeskill drops is relevant though.

It is relavent, people just don't always notice those things. Some choices are obvious and easy to make, inherent to a race. When someone picks to play a necromancer, an iksar looks more appealing than a dark elf because the iksar has a higher innate health regen, but by playing an iksar, they were then subject to being only non kos in Cabilis. (Obviously, with the advent of POK and such, this is somewhat of a moot point.)

Yeah, looking at the game from the aspect of a race discovering armor and making it as that culturals preferred armor. Some races may think Nightmare Arachnid Silk is better and more suiting than say Storm Volaas Hairs... or that armor melded with the composite or the best quality of ore and gravel will produce stronger armor than say midnight stones.

The only problem that I see with when new armor is introduced into EQ is that there is no real "experimentation" from the tradeskillers, but then again, that would make the system FAR FAR too vast and way too much of a hassle to program, so I understand why there isn't. But, in lacking that experimentation so to say, no one really sees from the eyes of how this armor would have been made.

But that is sheerly role play perspective.

The comment was in reffernce of someone wanting them to drop in BoT. The leve restriction for BoT is level 62 or keyed. No one ever said that you couldn't enter Storms at level 55.

I was picking theese baby's up thinking. DAng, isnt this for MASTERS level tailoring?
Was a bit tough to get enough folks willin to do it. but we got a decent turnout as the night got later.

so, when you say, "a TON," are you talking like 400 or 800 pieces? cuz that would make a really, really nice tailoring run right now!

There is absolutely no ETA for this. Sorry.
can i do anything to help you out with this? fluff your keyboard for you? refresh your drink? perhaps i could call for a massage? do you take checks? how about a few credit cards? does your mortgage need paying???

this is wonderful news! (especially after i blew 67 combines-worth of bazaar-bought othmir, holgresh and velium hound furs for one skill-up from 270 to 271, 3 combines before the end). i think it's time to stop hemhorraging all my pp on velious furs.

do you know if we (the high elves) will still require two dropped items per final (wrist/arm/hand/head) combine, please? will those items have twice the drop rate of, say, shissar scales, yttrium, or the other items that go into single-dropped-item combines? or will we have a single thing to use? (not sure if i'm making sense; i probably shouldn't post at 3 a.m. )

                        thanks!

This is a problem for all silk combines, I believe. A holdover from combining silks into silk swatches, perhaps.

It is kinda silly to still hold onto it though. It forces casters to obtain double the drops to achieve the same quality of armor compared to plate, chain, and leather classes.

A suggestion on the High Elf tailoring, take under advisement or ignore as rantings of a crackpot as you will. I was always very proud of the look that my old Blessed Artkeeper's Mithril Chain Tunic gave, made me stand out from the crowd of caster's in majestic to goofy looking robes. Admittedly, the old cultural is all smithed, but would it be possible to have the new material to be used possibly produce a woven mithril armor, sorta knitted chainmail? Perhaps it could be a drop in the Plane of Hate or Kael Drakkel, both areas with cultural significance for us.

i'm not able to wear the blessed artkeeper's mithril, since i don't worship Tunare. always been grumpy about that =p having another smithed option like that, for silk wearing elfs, would be WONDERFUL! but only if it used the DON model where your deity doesn't make it so you can't wear it. I picked Erollisi Marr for my high elf (well, she picked it...) for RP reasons, but i've often wished i had RP'd a different way so she could wear the silly chain armor.
