I highly recommend coordinating efforts with any other foragers that may be in the zone.
    i.e. LFay

They may be there foraging for morning dew for smithing and most likely will be perfectly willing to trade their sylvan berries for your morning dew.

cauldron prawn did drop very rarely off Aqua goblins yesterday while I was trying to forage them. I actually got more off the goblins than I did foraging. Steamfont spring water is fairly common off the kobolds. I got 2 stacks while killing them in like 90ish minutes. I was actually getting more from them than off the minotaurs.

I concur about the kobolds. Just north of the druid portal, there's a couple Grikbar kobold camps. I went and aggroed all of them, then did a PBAE and took them all out. Got 2-3 Steamfont Spring Waters every time, and the repop time is about 5-10 minutes (I didn't time it)

Best place to get components for ribbons to get to 182.

          Sylvan Berries?

Anyone know what mobs are dropping Sylvan Berries? I can confirm that the giants in the fort in Frontier Mountains drop the Lichenclover, but still lookin for the berries so I can keep makin robes.

Potameids drop Plant Shoots in Jaggedpine. Now, what drops Plains Roots in WC?

Somebody told me they killed tons of orcs for the berries.
I got some while slaughtering pixies the other night, but I think those were just foraged.

                  Faeries?

Hmmmmm, well I tried the killing Faeries thing for a couple hours and got about a dozen Morning Dew, which was cool, cause I'm a High Elf, but no Sylvan Berries. Will try the Orcs and Pixies later

                    More Sylvan Berry hunting results

In my continuing persuit to find sylvan berries, here are today's results!

Killed: 18 orcs, 2 Sylvan Berries. Most likely a **** lucky drop rate, though their respawn is rather slow.

Killed: 231 pixies. 0 Sylvan Berries. After that, I gave up.

Killed: 93 faeries, 3 Sylvan Berries this time, then ran out of time and had to go to work.

Also killed: Equestrielle the Corrupted. That's what you get for killing my helpless foraging mule THREE TIMES! *kicks the corpse*

Now if only there was as reliable a way to gather other research pieces.

                      Drops in WC

After killing over 1000 mobs of all sorts (if there's enough interest, I'll post the exact numbers, I parsed for total kills but did not group by mob type yet -- thank you wizard PBAE's) I had 0 drops of plains roots from:

                      giant spiders
                      mummies
                      ghouls
                      orcs (all kinds)
                      zombies
                      skeletons
                      snakes (all kinds)
                      bears (all kinds)
                      will o wisps
                      dervish cutthroats
                      cats (all kinds)

The only thing I did NOT kill in mass quantities was the shadowmen and the druids at the rings. This leads me to believe either a) the plains roots do not drop in WC, or b) they are so exceedingly rare as to make killing mobs in WC not worth it.

I did end up with 2 plains roots as a result of my excursion... But they were given to me by the kindly druid who I had in absolute hysterics with my 50+ mob trains.

After foraging with my druid in FV for 2 hours and in FM for 3 hours, I have not received a single lichenclover. My druid currently has a skill of 175 in foraging. Maybe just really unlucky :x

                          Forages we did

On this past Saturday, I started my little (9) ranger foraging in Field of Bones and got 1 lichenclover there. Then met up with a druid friend (52) and we went to WC and tried the forages there.

After 4 hours we had 23 plains roots between us... noen dropped form any mobs. From there we headed to Steamfont and spent another three hours there. We got 8 Steamfont Springwater from MoBs, mostly Steam Elementals and 13 foraged. I then found another 8 springwaters on the merchants, as they are also sellable.

I then logged my main back on, (54 Paladin) and with my 52 Druid friend we went and got 4 skills ups each on about 24 combines each of the Golden Ribbon recipes. Woot! 162 in Tailoring.

I have only had results foraging Plains Roots too. No amount of slaughtering the zone mobs has turned any out for me.

                              One hard, one easy?

It seems like there's one really easy to get item for all races and one hard to get item. Maybe that's not the case.

At any rate, for Erudites, Seahorse Roe is easy (someone posted "AE the spiders and snakes") and boy does that work.

Bamboo shoots are hard. I have enough foraging friends though that head to Gunthak that I've hit them up to save the shoots.

What's really nice is being able to skill up both on the ribbons AND on the robes. I've gotten skillups on the robes (did 4 robes of the radiant, the easiest robe) only failed once and got two skillups. I pinched myself.

I suspect the reason that bamboo shoots are difficult to get are because you can't AE pandas.
I took my AE-lacking paladin to Erud's Crossing, and after spending a lot of time there only managed to walk away with 2 Seahorse Roe.
It would appear that ribbons might not be the method of choice for me.
