You'll get about 1% skill-up per combine until you get 6/7, then it slows down again. I think it's about 550 or 1100 300+ skill combines to hit 7/7, can't remember which.

You can either evolve your trophy by doing more non-trivial combines (the trophy will be catching up 11 times faster than usual when your skill level is ahead of the trophy), or you can destroy the trophy and do the task for your master trophy. Depending on how close to evolving your trophy is, one or the other way can be much faster than the other one.

Tailoring is one of the faster ones, so it should evolve at 2% per combine, possily 5% (total) every 2 combines, until it reaches 6/7 (then ~500 combines to reach 7/7).

Tailoring was the first TS I started back in 1999 (was such a noobie i thought you had to make your own armour!) and it was the last to max. This half elf bard finally hit 300 (and 2100) yesterday.
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement over the years and for those of you still slogging away at it, may the RNG smile upon you (and SoE fix the stupid DoN droprates).

60 combines to get from 290-300 (yes I counted 60 patterns consumed) That took 180 shissar scales at 3 per combine. I think it must be broken, as the skillup rate was an amazing 16.7%, but hey, I'll take it.

6 down, only smithing to go (272).
