    ...

My only problem lies in halfling tailoring.

I keep killing dozens of halflings. Never get a single useful skin.

    I WANT FUZZY BOOTS! *cackles*

But seriously, you can skip backpacks. Or you can occasionally hunt the odd one off of vendors as well.

Morgrist thinks RP = best. Keep it up and shame all the people around you into not killing your friends.

I am a ranger of Tunare. I am a hunter. These are not in conflict. Where do you think all those foraged rabbits come from? <grin>

Anyway, my own philosophy is that Tunare's wish is NOT that we refrain from killing, but that we don't kill wantonly. After all, how does the bear or the wolf survive, except to kill others of Tunare's creatures?

To kill for exp and leave the carcasses on the ground, THAT would bring the wrath of Tunare. To kill for food and clothing is the order of Nature.

        ROFL Jobrill ....

I think its a shame that all those wood elves and high elves I have killed dont drop their skins so I can use them for tailoring.

        /sigh

See, problems are different for some of us....

I agree with these sentiments. My view is that Tunarian Druids are "stewards" of Tunare's bountiful nature. We are charged with protecting AND managing it. That includes harvesting and culling from the herd to keep it healthy. We live off of the same land we care for and protect and Tunare provides for us by allowing us to take from that garden for our needs (some of us who chose to tailor and provide the leather armors our bretheren need, just need a few more pelts than others). The cats are hunters also so I feel that for them to meet their demise by being hunted is an honorable ending (such as for the Vikings, a sword in their hand) The herds survive, witness their continual regeneration (i.e. respawning).

There are exceptions for certain animals which various factions of Tunare's servants have chosen a special affinity for (Bears in SFG and animals in general in Jagged Pine). Whether these special affinities are the true dictates of Tunare or the misguided beliefs of heretics may never be answered. As they are brothers and sisters of ours I will respect their beliefs and leave their "special creatures" be to maintain order (and faction for trading with them).

Finally, for those who absolutely refuse to participate in the culling of the herd, I suggest you can still obtain pelts by killing the evil Poachers in Jagged Pine. Tunare herself commands this and they drop the pelts that they have stolen from Tunare's creatures. This method truly is a case where you CAN have your cake and eat it too!

            Deeger and Arbrelax:

I applaud your well thought out explanation. I will feel better killing the bears knowing that I am killing not for exp, but for the hide and meat that the creature can provide me with.

And that the creature will either die in battle, or struck down , by tunares magic, for the greater good.

I'm a druid of Karana, but being a druid we have almost all the same spells as those that worship Tunare. Now do you think our master (whoever it may be, Karana or Tunare) would have given us spells such as the Fear Animal series, the Charm Animal series, and other animal only type spells if it wasn't part of our creed? I won't bother the animals in Jaggedpine or Surefall Glade, as those are our sacred places and it bothers the gods if we kill those there. I also won't leave animal corpses rotting on the ground. If I kill an animal, it's for a good reason - it attacked me, such as a lion would, or I am in need of something specific.

I will be glad when I am able to charm an animal and after the charm is done it will not be angry with me - it's not called Tunare's Request for nothing.

To slip into the mindset of my koada'dal paladin for a second: "Tunare is the Mother of All. All natural creatures was created by Her. If a being was not created by her, it is Unnatural and it is therefore your sworn duty to destroy the misshapen monstrosities"

It was a lot harder to come up with IC reasons for killing people on other teams for a Paladin of Tunare than it was for a Shadowknight of Cazic Thule, but I think this one works...
