  • Tailoring 178 - 240

Please don't flame me for posting this, I'm sure you get your share daily of impatient people who just want to GM as fast as they can, but Tailoring is killing me. I'm 250 in Brew, Pottery, Smithing, Jewelcraft - but getting from 178 to 240 in tailoring is driving me nuts. =(

    Here is my situation -

65 Barbarian Shaman (duel box a 65 SK for farming)

Assuming I have unlimited access to foraged components (big assumption, but let's just play for now), what is my best route to 240?

I have considered the following -

    Acrylia Studded to 188
    Acrylia Reinforced to 2xx (222?)
    Something to 240
(Farm all acrylia and either farm or purchase hides)

I have also considered selling expensive forage components and buying the acrylia.

I spent all morning in AC this morning farming acrylia and got a single skillup for it. I'm begging for some faster way here =)

Are there any other routes I can consider? I've seen the recipe list, but I'm really just interested in getting to 240 fast so I can continue the Aid Grimmel quest.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Thank you

Quick and easy answer, there is no quick and easy way to GM tailoring.

Although, you do have several more points you could milk out of the ribbons if you are assuming unlimited forages.

      Greetings,

If you look further down, you'll see what I used to get from 200 - 250. Mainly Acrylia reinforced (242 trivial), but did Fleeting quivers when I could (222 trivial) and used Velious leathers (335 trivial) once I passed the 220 mark. Being a Wood Elf, I had cultural combines I could use up to 228. (There are others that are 335 trivial, but far too expensive for skilling up purposes - at least for me! )

As Akishka mentions, you can go for ribbons still and push on to 187. Acrylia studded trivials one point later. If you have access to someone who can make the components (or you can make them yourself) then Ceremonial Solstice Robes might be the way to go. I managed pretty well without these, as I had no access to a GM jeweller to make the chains for me. Did a few combines after finding some chains on an NPC vendor, but mainly concentrated on Acrylia reinforced.

Depending on your server economy and whether you need to make money to support your tailoring (like I did!), don't just make masks - Acrylia studded sleeves sell well on my server, as do Acrylia reinforced sleeves, boots and gloves. If money is no object, then save components by doing masks only - also, other items might sell better on your server than the ones I've mentioned.

      Hope this helps.

Being that I'm high on the otter's "Most Wanted" list, I'll share some info...

There are basically 3 "camps" of otters; south camp has 4 warriors, 2 shamans and 2 named (who are used for quests - you can kill them tho, they repop fairly quickly), chief camp (in between north and south camp) has 7 warriors, 3 shaman, 5 otter pups and chief (who is also used for quests, runs really freaking fast, hits purty hard and is immune to root/snare - but otherwise, kill him! he also respawns fast), and north camp has 4 warriors, 2 shaman and 2 vendors (who are KOS, but will not aggro unless you attack - DO NOT kill them - it's courtesy to not).

North of north camp is about 5 seashell collectors (lower lvl than warriors) otters and sprinkled along the beach are a few more collectors - some roam.

I'd set up along the cliff wall directly opposite of chief camp. Pull chief first, get him out of the way (you should be able to single pull with a spell at your level - he'll be a puss for your SK - just nice to get him out of the way). Once the chief is dead, pull pull pull pulll. The shamans are annoying because, well, they're casters (Hi, just get here so i can kill you).

Every otter can drop a fur, even the pups, so kill everyone. I'd bring some extra mule characters with you to hold loot as CS is a nice cash farm as well (crusty armor, gems, vendor jewelry). If you keep a mule indifferent to otters, they can stumble over to those merchants you aren't killing and sell that crap right back to the otters.

Drop rate is okay - nothing is tailoring is fast, PERIOD. But for a change in what you're farming, doing otters is fun - besides, their calypso music kicks ass, I love hearing them yip! when they get hit, and the little cash farming is nice.

Best way to grow up to 212, to me (Erudite wizard) was to make a Druid twink, level up to 11-12, and go to Erud's Crossing.

There, you can level to 16-17, while foraging and hunting Seahorses, Spiders and snakes to get seahorse roe. (While OOM, or Low on life, go fish and make some extra money).

Last step is buying in Bazaar all Sali`s page 64 (around 5 pp on my server), and then make a ton of Radiant's robe.

Its not fast, but not so slow as farming velium/acrylia-Rockhoppers/wyverns, and these are overcamped anyway. All the way to 212 can be done in 4-5 weeks, not playing the forager hardcore.

Its extremely cheap. You got even some extra money from Lightstones, and you can save spider silks and snake eggs. (Allways a pain to get a decent amount of these suplies)

And its boring, but you dont need to pay too much attention. Heck, i did it while working, playing EQ windowed.

farming in CS is always iffy, since it is used for leveling but mostly its empty.

When i was working on tailoring i would come farm here for an hour or two. This would net me a stack of wyvern pelts, 4/5 cobalt drake and a stack of othmir fur. IMO, wyvern and cobalt drake tailoring are the most pelt efficient since they only use a single pelt BUT they require velium, wyvern demanding massive amounts of velium. Othmir fur is by far the most efficient skillup mechanism but you do need 2 pelts min per combine. But be warned, the furry named mobs do hit hard. i usually single them and then pull the whole camp so they can DS themselves to death.

That sounds really high to me and I wouldn't count on those to be the average, fyi.

dont forget like in smithing you can nab two 'freebie' points from doing ethereal combines. not too mention buying the silk off vendors is 10 times cheaper then the bricks

so you can do 210-212 (assuming you have a geerloks) with cured etheral energy/ethereal silk swatches. If you have a larger tailoring mod (i think theres like a 10/15 out there somewhere) you can do em earlier.

Akevan Shadow Shears, me thinks they are called. 15% to tailoring. Drops off of Shei. Doesn't drop every time.

187 to 188 Acrylia Studded Sleeves
                        188 to 210 ?????
210 to 212 Ethereal Silk Swatches
212 to 240 Othmir Fur Caps / Acrylia Reinforced

I saw a post somewhere about keeping an eye out for Muramite Residue on vendors - I'm wondering exactly which vendors I would be most likely to find them on... Are there some in Nedaria's Landing? or Natimbi?

                          GoD tailoring

I'm currently working on my 5th shawl, so I need to get my skill up to 115 (I'm 70 at the moment). In all the threads that I have found none list any new GoD recipes. I know with the GoD brewing and baking, nearly all of the recipes were geared toward newbies. Is this not the case for tailoring as well?? If it is, does anyone know of a faster skill up path using GoD instead? / hopeful

This is not my favorite tradeskill so far...

There are if you pull up the quick trivial list you'll find various sacks and backpacks that can be made. The problem is, they all require a great deal of hynid blood (which seems to still be in rare supply).

yes i found them and they seem expensive. I guess what i meant is... Is there a cheap/easy method to skill up using GoD as opposed to the aforementioned threads?

Those needles things sound perfect, but I have yet to see any of the residue on a vendor...
