I think that's just bad luck with RNG.

So far I failed:
2 of 40 Blue Diamond powder
2 of 38 Celetial Temper
0 of 38 Infused Platinum Thread
3 of 12 Haversacks at 215 (205 + geelock) tailoring

I considered that pretty good.

There is also the fact of perception. I can combine thing twice as fast with the new UI, so I get twice as many failures in the same amount of time. Of course that also means you get twice as many successes
