I'm with Moonlily - I did all my velium farming 5th floor of TOFS. Usually brought a mule on a 2nd account with me, killed and looted everything (most mobs drop 5-8pp weapons, named sometimes drop okay bazaar-able junk).

    Nice quiet up there.

Ry'Gorr miners in Crystal Caverns are the easiest mobs for farming velium. They are the only CC mob that drops velium.

The following are on the same spawn table.

      * Ry'Gorr miner, Ry'Gorr oracle, Ry'Gorr herbalist, Ry'gorr inspector.

Many of these are wanderers, although there are a number of static spawns.

The other orc spawn table is,

      * Ry'Gorr watchman, Foreman Smason, Foreman Rixact

      These are all static spawns.

Hmmm... at the top of the Pit in CC are two static spawns, I've seen both Watchmen and Oracles in these static spawn spots...

          Oracles are on both tables.

One of the foremen (Rixact I think) is a static spawn at the bottom of the pit. The other Foreman randomly pops in place of Watchmen.

oh, and a forgoten source... icewell caves... garunteed to give exp while farming velium, unless it kills you.

cubes and golems drop velium, gems, quest gems, and spells... not sure if the tt mobs drop velium, but they do see invis.

on a side note icewell is the only place i have ever been killed by a cube. a frozen one that can barely move killed me. then terrors see invis and killed me again. that place is mean.

I was dubious to the dwarves, and was never able to bank there.
Totally false. You can bank while KOS to the banker. You can bank while the KOS banker is in the process of beating on you. I'd do it all the time in Thurgadin before circumstances forced me to ally myself with the disgusting ice rats again.

CC is nice for access to merchants/bank/forge. CC is nice for small pieces and small bricks (11pp for a small brick from an NPC is a good deal to me, YMMV) from the dwarf merchants that non-tradeskillers sell. ToFS is nice for better money drops (I kill the whole floor before the front 8 golems respawn), the solitude, and the zone geometry is much easier to work with, especially with a pet.

What does 'YMMV' mean? I don't believe I have ever heard of that before.

Actually, there are 14 golems on the 5th floor (8 in the main hallway, one to the left in the wedding area, 2 upstairs second door to the left, 2 by the 6th floor portal and 1 upstairs second door to the right), not including the named golem who spawns sometimes on the right side of the wedding area, but he never drops velium.

I always try to kill any named on the way up to the 5th floor - Cara Omica on the 4th floor drops a few things that can bring 500-1000pp in the bazaar as well.

                        if you can AE

This is the easist way to get velium. but you must have a high lvl char that can AE and a low lvl caster (10-30). Use the Noobie and target a mob near the bottom of pit and caste something to piss them off, they will bring the whole pit up. When you see the mobs all coming zone the noob out to EW and AE the whole crowd.
