  • Best place to farm velium?

From what I have seen, seems to be CC. Any particular place in CC that is best? Whats the drop rate like?
    Maybe another zone is better?
I was rather dismayed to have started buying wyvern hides and spending hours fishing cod, only to discover I needed all this velium (/bonk me for not looking closely at the recipe).

I've only seen Miners up near the Zone In and at the bottom of the Pit/Spiral.

Drop rate, shall we say, it could be a whole lot better.

Bring lots of packs, you'll be needing them.

In the orc portion of the zone, the velium only drops off the miners. From what I've seen though, any orc can be a placeholder for a miner so you really need to kill any orc you run across. As for drop rates, it can be slow, but the main benefit of this zone is the low level of the mobs you have to kill to get your velium.

I can't speak for drops in other portions of the zone as I have not hunted anything but the orcs.

For variety, and grouping and potentially a bit of experience, Velketors is also good for velium (don't know your level, but I still get exp there at 63). Especially if there are people exp'ing or other farmers already in CC, the slow drop rate becomes not really worth it.

And finally, in the Tower of Frozen Shadow on the wedding floor, the golems drop velium. It's a set spawn so there's no chasing mobs down as in the other two zones. But by the same token, if you kill them too fast, that's it till next spawn. But ToFS is overlooked by most people.

      Hope this helps.

Almost forgot, another benefit of CC is the dwarven outpost inside in the zone. There's a merchant you can sell your other loot to, a banker for all your banking needs, and most especially useful - a forge for breaking down any blocks into small pieces of velium so that you can go back out and gather more without having to leave the zone.

          RE the orcs in CC.

Yes, the miners drop velium, and none of the other types appear to. As far as level goes, my 38 mage is still getting XP from the orcs. Some are light blue now, so I don't imagine he'll go much past 40 there, but I need about 50 blocks of velium to make my Infused sheets of Brellium. He'll be there a while still.

I don't have any experience anywhere else, but that's what I know about the orcs in CC.

I had a friend that did his Velium Farming in Skyshrine. You will screw your faction royally there but he said the drop rate was alot better than CC.

You could also kill spiders in Velketors. They drop Velium on occasion.

As for CC, only the Ry'Gorr Orc Miners drop Velium and in any sizes. Quick repops make it a decent area to get Velium. As others have said there is a Dwarven Outpost which makes it easier to do your Velium Farming. There are 3 Forges in the Outpost, a Bank and a few Merchants. Killing the Orcs gives you good Outpost faction if it's too low to deal with the Merchants.

Upper spiders in velks seems to be better.. the see thru model spiders drop it, while the solid spiders generally dont. If you have a good group in the upper areas, you'll pack up velium pretty fast.

If the zone is empty.. or the orcs aren't camped, CC can't be beat overall.. with the bank and forges right there, just bring your tools and plenty of temper.. and you can farm and make the items you need as you go. The drop rate is a bit lower, but.. the forges >all.

Its been a while since Ive been to CC. Orcs never used to give faction, did they change that?
I was dubious to the dwarves, and was never able to bank there.
                  Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, killing the Orcs will give you Outpost Faction so you will be able to shop and/or bank there after killing a number of the Orcs.

If you are farming your own velium instead of buying on bazaar, you are probably trying to save money. If so, probably better brew tempers yourself. Brewing them costs about 10pp as opposed to buying from vendor.

Easiest to farm are CC, where orc miners drop it.

But Velks generally seems to have a better drop rate. Anything with a crystal look (spiders, gargs, golems) can drop em.

yeah ill be brewing them myself, 242 brewing here so no prob.
After all the cash I am spending on wyvern hides, I dont think I can afford any velium OR tempers hehe.

Skyshrine was the best for me, though I was there anyway working on faction. There's a nice hallway that I would kill up and down (killing only the velium golem models, when possible) and the pool room. There's a forge at one end of the hall and you can make a side trip to use the banker there even while he's attacking you to grab more tempers and drop off stuff you've made. For variety, you can head up some steps for another area full of golem models and a couple humanoids mixed in.

In the time I was working my faction, I got about 6 stacks of velium sheets, 10 or so stacks of small pieces, 3 and a half stacks of drake egg oil (silly drakes kept agroing me) and probably made about 20KPP from velium weapons/spell drops (pop outside to CS to sell to the vendors).

Granted, I was there a LONG time....killed about 1700 dragon kin.
