  • Increase in ornate drops and its effect on smithing prices

Is it me or am I wrong. With the increase in the drop rate of ornate molds. Teir 1 and Teir 2 pop armor has just becoming obsolete. I just sold a pair of hurricane arms last week for 30k. My guess is now i would be extremly lucky to get this because the ornate armor is better in all cases then the hurricane or plane of nightmare armor>

It may take out a huge chunk of the cultural market with the exceptions of people betwwen lvls 45 and 55. But do to people reselling there old cultural when they get ornate this may be effected to.

I think we just got nerfed.

Just checking the bazaar on eci: Ornate molds and patterns are selling for 50K -100K+. I doubt this is going to cut into hurrican chain at all, unless these prices start dropping a whole lot.

There were 4 ornate plate vambracers for sale in the bazaar from 30 to 35k. With a 5th person acutioning wtt vambracers for rbb (28k on my server).

Plate boots werer 50k which are ft3 for hybirds. and mana pres IV for clerics. The increase in ornate has only been on for less then a week. Arms were selling from more then 100k last week.

Frankly, on Xev at least, there was never much of a market for Teir 1 and 2 armors to begin with. The market has been flooded with Tae Ew, which is comparable. The Ornate Molds will do little to nothing to my economy.

The ornate is dropping like water now. It will completely wipe out my cultural at this drop rate for all but the poorest players, as the molds flood the market. Poor people don't buy cultural anyway; rich people do who have no better alternative, most of whom are in top guilds. Now those people have an alternative that makes superior product for the price of a drop -- basically free.

One thing that will help is that the ornate armors have a realistically have a level requirement of 62. You have to be Tier 3 capable to do the armor quest.

              Kingbobb –

Before last week, I only ever saw two ornate plate molds for sale in the bazaar on E'ci, ever. In the last two days, I have seen several. And the prices are dropping already. I'll have to see how long I can hold out myself before snapping up one of those boot molds!

This will affect Hurricane PLATE sales, this will probably affect cultural sales too.

Do not forget one other thing: All Nightmare/Hurricane stuff has a lvl 61 recommended to it.

And yes, those ornate pieces are cropping up on bazaar at a grand rate.

I never really saw a market for nightmare armor. The recommended level is just too high and with every expansion and zone revamp armor has been released which puts it to shame.

I still sell cultural and hurricane consistently to the level 50s. Hurricane armor is great for those without cultural and some pieces better than cultural for those that have it. Pure rain has become more available since they opened up the planes. Kylong is competing with some pieces but with more rain hurricane shouldn't be as difficult to make. The recommended level still hurts this set quite a bit, IMO.

True. But once someone hits 62, guess what they'll do with their cultural and hurricane that they are wearing. And depending how fast they want to get rid of it to get their upgrade, I think prices on smithed armor are going to crash hard.

One last thing that I think it will affect is any desire to make elemental armor. How many molds are going to drop in the time it would take to farm the components for one try at an elemental bp? And then how many more will drop while you're trying to get more since the first one (and second one, etc.) will probably poof.

Even though it has a recomended of 61 it only has a required of 46. I personally use a nightmare wood compound bow even though I am only 58. I know several people that use items that they do not fit the recomended for because even with the slight loss of stats they still get a better piece of armor or weapon then can be found. Heck my Beastlord was and still is using a sheetmetal ulak because it was inexpensive and even with the reduced stats it was better for the price than most other weapons I could find.

                      remember the ornate requirements

To use ornate, you must be lvl 62+ or have the tier 3 flags.

Night Terror chain has been rapidly getting pummeled by the incredibly cheap cost and ease of Tae Ew Chainmail. The Nameless is down from 35k on Tae ew chain to 10k now. makes it tough to compete with those prices.

The Hurricane is nice, and it will take a hit. However, like the cultural, there is still a viability to it for those 45-62 players. Will the price drop? yes it will. It will require Drops of Pure rain to decrease in price to coincide, but the overall profit / cost will equilize over time.

The big flood of ornate is largely due to people want to camp while the camping is good, and nearly everyone 62+ wants the armor. Given the number of people, it will be some time for everyone to get the armor they want.

The real question is, just how low will ornate go? It is easier than a Multi-quest of Skyshrine, so easier to dump. Given that.....it is possible it will drop into the 15-30k range sooner that expected.

I stopped making cultural months ago except as gifts. As my guild upgrades to elemental armor, they will gradually dump the cultural I made for them, but it still says lot for the quality of that armor that 65th level elemental flagged warriors are tanking in cultural armor. It is still some of the best gear you can get.

I think Ornate molds will take a chunk out of the smithing business. Elemental crafted armor is still better for some classes, in my opinion, but the drop rate is just plain silly. We've farmed the elemental planes for months and I've only scrouged enough to try 6 pieces and am grateful to have succeeded on 4 of those. I doubt that stuff will be sold anytime soon as I think even those guild capable of the elemtal planes still have slots that could use upgrading.

Um, no. That's the elemental drops -- I forget the name. The ornate stuff is level 55 or tier 2 flags. I'm level 55, and Bors Warhammer happily responds to my inquiries, even without flags.

I still see a market for cultural from about level 40 to 55. That's a very long stretch of time for some folks, and cultural can fit the bill quite nicely if they have cash. Hurricane becomes feasible towards the upper end of tihs range, but then it's competing with the Ornate drops.

ornate going for about 30-60k on RN depending on piece and type

chest/legs pieces are a bit more.

Ornate dropping like a rock on DRo.

Our guild was doing a Sol Ro mini flagging raid and got over 10 drops in just a couple hours.

I am sooo glad I am almost out of Underfoot, and only 2 Hurricane items on me..
