Increase in ornate drops and its effect on smithing prices

I still think that the Ornate drops are way too common now in Sol Ro Tower. Hell, I've been there practically every night for a couple of hours and tend to have 6 drops in that time, of not more. I'm all for SOE helping out and having it drop more, but it's **** near too common now on all the mobs in the zone. When you have a chance of Ornate legs dropping off of anything, something's wrong. If you compare, Ele legs drop off the Gods only, OK, so they drop more Ornate legs to make up for it...at least make them a challenge to get!

Don't get me wrong, I like the pp influx I'm getting from the sellable one's I've gotten, I now have the coin to work on smithing finally, but **** someone had a brainfart with the increased rates

I used an ornate boot mold last night to make my Jaylia's. Level 55, no flags.

A couple things of note to add. I looked in the bazaar this morning and did a little shopping. Ornate are WAY to common (except for chain - figures). Guess what else is common all of a sudden? Previously high end items. FT3 on the boots = 9 (yes nine) Boots of Flowing Slime for sale in the bazaar. Already down from 90k last week on E'ci to 50k this morning. Manastones, Fungi's, Trak BP's. WOW! Market is suddenly flooded with things that you would previously spend weeks or months trying to get at the right price.

So what will happen? Drop rate will be decreased. It has to be. This rate will make the Tier 1 and 2 planes trivial at best. Maybe this is Sony's way of spurring on the move to the elemental planes for those that have not yet gotten there.

In the mean time, take advantage. If you are a GM smith or Tailor and not selling at a moment, dont fret. It will not last.

Considering that at level 57, I'm STILL running around in an acrylia bp, you won't find me complaining if prices start dropping.

This tunic allows me to cast my lvl 63 beastlrod haste for no mana. This is the same haste spell that shamans get at lvl 56.

Did this actually work for you at level 56?

Are you telling me that if I buy the ornate silk pants for my Enchanter, I could cast Tranquility(Kei's upgrade) once I hit level 55? If that is currently the case, it will be changed i'm sure. That just seems to be too powerful.

There's no level limit on the Velious Quest armor clickies so I suspect that the Ornate stuff is working the same way.

From looking at the cleric made armor from the molds there is nothing overpowering that is made from them.

So Ihope they keep the drop rates at a reasonable rate I would love to have some FT2 bracers

There's a quite limited market for cultural, so people saying don't worry, cultural will be fine, are wrong.

Ornate goes for all races/religions. A DE or ogre or whatever GM smith can only sell his stuff to a few handfuls of players per server at best because cultural fits only limited race/religions.

As the game in general is full of drops that are better than cultural, and as ornate is flooding into the game, fewer people will buy cultural, contracting the market further still. And some of those people getting ornate will sell back their old cultural to the market -- a depressed market, that is, so they will have to compete with makers of cultural to beat the lowered prices in an escalating spiral to the bottom on their abandoned cultural.

There will be no recovery from that. There is no reason prices should rise once better armor has entered the game on the one hand, diminishing demand for cultural, and once the cultural armor that has been made available for resale because it has been replaced winds up competing with cultural that sellers have already in stock or might make in the future, increasing the available supply.

Prices don't rise when you diminish demand and increase supply. That double whammy makes them fall. And rapidly.

Cheapest Ornat pattern/mold on Xev last night was 55k. On this server, where we have *maybe* a dozen guilds in the elementals and only one that I know of in Time, I really don't think we'll see this kind of depression happening for some time. Here's hoping though.

Wow, the ornate issue is even more inane than I originally thought.

1. Everyone will be in ornate soon...uhh, great job...so much for putting a sense achievement into camping minis. Why not make them nodrop like ele's. And ya, I'm a 65 warrior who could use the upgrades, but think that everyone in uber armor from level 55+ is stupid.

2. Effects can be used prior to proper level. Mkay, so a 55 chanter can now cast KEI? Anyone else see the stupidity in that? I'd expect a fix for this...but who knows.

3. Again, Molds drop in Tier3+. You require lvl 62 to zone in without the proper flags or mini-quests...so why shouldn't this lvl cap apply to Bor?

I'm all for improving availabilty of gear etc, and heck...I'm glad I'll be full ornate soon, but when everyone else is it takes away the lustre. At least the quested armors require camping, faction work, etc.

I rarely rant about EQ, but things like this are disappointing.

I don't think this is gonna be an issue.

I looked at the cleric armor its very nice but not overpowering at lvl 55 and even if prices do come down would cost well over 200KP to attain

Also the enchanter stuff does seem overpowering until you look at it

Well tranquility is better then a KEI but guess what? this is not agroup spell or a MGB spell. And although the cleric armor does not have a recommended level all of the enchanter does level 60. Which would seem to me to indicate you cannot use the clicky effect until lvl 60. In fact someone on another board said this was the case.

So nice? Yes
Overpowering? Heck no

As far as the cleric stuff if I had it all. The main benifits to me would be FT4 for the 2 bracers, a good bit larger mana pool, and a clicky hammer pet. Nice but not overpowering

I know that going from my current load out to a full set of ornate would net me 278 hp, 219 mana, 86ac, 3 hp/tick, 3 mana/tick, lose 1 str, gain 19 sta, gain 10 agi, gain 2 dex and 7 int.

Perfectly balanced, yep, yep. My current gear sucks.

I'm saving my coppers, molds running 60-100k in bazaar now.
