Regarding the chain stuff, I'd check out the items that Veksar is providing the market. Some very nice stuff in direct competition with Hurricane chain and likely to depress the market.

The cultural and saves, yes they are lacking but you don't always want to go with a full set of the cultural stuff. I would personally switch in: Ely Death Mask, Imbued Granite Spaulders, Raldukan Helm and Haste in either Cloak or Back (easiest 2 slots) and then resists/hps in the other - there's lots of choice. Most of those items are reasonably cheap, on Bristlebane they're cheaper than the equivalent cultural, and then you get to add Haste item to taste.
Mind you, with this armour only having a rec 45, not too many people at this level are going to need overly huge resists anyway. It's not really until mid-50s that you start noticing your lack of resists with raids and such. Then you can switch in the stuff I've mention, or others, and add decent resist equipment for the other slots and be reasonably well off for someone who isn't seeing SoV armour.

    *deep breath*

Having said all that, it's pretty clear when comparing high-end cultural with the tier one pop stuff that more thought needs to go into smithed armour. Having req 46 and rec 61 on tier one items really hurts the market for it and with the Kylong Darkmail coming out of Veksar wearing a rec 45, it makes it look even worse =/.

    Mini-rant, apologies =(

EQ 2 and it's emphasis on having most of the best items come out of tradeskills looks really nice *but* they have to change whatever system it is they use in EQ. No-one seems to talk to anyone else, there's seemingly no inherent plan for the dropped and manufactured items to exist side by side, instead it seems to bounce wildly between the two with each side trying to out-do the other.

I had posted the comparison over at Paladins of Norrath, earlier, and someone over there commented on the fact that a good combination would probably be the Heraldic in the visible spots but with the boots and bracers replaced with Serene Steelweave. I ran the numbers (its been added to the alternate profiles list) and came up with the same AC as Serene Steelweave (which has a better AC), slightly higher hp (4, actually - truthfully, hardly worth mentioning), and a better combination of resists (since the bd resists are largely on the wrists, and hurricane plate is MR heavy at the expense of the other resists).

As someone else mentioned, the biggest drawback of Hurricane Plate is its ridiculously high recommended level. I had to raise the level of the test profile from 56 (my current level) to 62, or Steelweave would have beaten it hands down.

And Xaanru, one thing you forgot to mention. Your cleric upgraded to Tae Ew Plate...

And probably used every last scale found to date to do so.

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but everyone here knows that I'm not exaggerating by much.

        Hurricane Armor

There are only going to be certain items people will want, and you have to fit them to your toon. Depending on if you need/want more resists/hps/ac etc. If your looking to just sell items and can gather ingredients on your own look at the other types of armor that are available and make a different piece. Why Make Hurricane Chain BP or Legs when there are usually more than enough Tae Ew chain BPs and Leggings, make some sleeves or a helm.

I sell the Heraldic legs/BP/bracer/boots/collar, well... try to, Tae Ew Tunic/Legs and Hurricane Gloves/Sleeves. Sleeves have outsold gloves 3:1 so far but I'm still keeping an eye on the Darkmail stuff from Veksar because it's the closest item to Hurri Chain.

Hurri (and other) Plate is harder to judge, you'll have to check what, if anything, is in competition with it on your server and the prices, then judge if you can afford to sell it for less. Remembering at the same time that the target market isn't the 45-65 of high-end cultural but rather 60ish-65 due to the level restrictions =/.

            Elemental molds are no drop.

The only two bp I have made I have sold for 40 and 38k.

Rain prices range from rarely at 2k, average 3-4k, and dreaming people try to sell at 5k.

Was actually referring to the Ele smithed stuff, but can understand your confusion, my apologies =).

Probably the best Ele smithed stuff for tanks is Farwater, the BP stats are:-
Farwater plate breastplate: AC 65, STR 12, DEX 10, STA 8, WIS 8, INT 8, HP 120, mana 50, sv disease 15, sv poison 15.

Now, compare that to the Ornate stuff (stats from Alla's):-
              SK: AC: +57 Str: +9 Sta: +10 Dex: +11 Int: +10 Magic Resist: +6 Fire Resist: +14 Cold Resist: +6 Disease Resist: +14 HP: +100 Mana: +80
              Warrior:AC: +63 Str: +10 Sta: +15 Agi: +6 Dex: +9 Magic Resist: +10 Poison Resist: +15 Disease Resist: +15 HP: +115
              Pal: AC: +57 Str: +11 Sta: +9 Dex: +10 Wis: +10 Magic Resist: +5 Fire Resist: +10 Cold Resist: +15 Disease Resist: +10 HP: +100 Mana: +80

Also remember that these have right click effects on them ranging from very nice on the pally's to so-so on the shadowknight's.

On Bristlebane at least, people are still buying Kunark BPs even tho there's plenty of high-end cultural available. Some right click effects alone apparently double the price of an item and that's likely to happen here.

Someone else can go over Ornate Chain Vs. Ele Smithed Chain, I think the disparity between the two may be even greater in favour of the Ornate stuff tho =/.

Also, once you can get Elemental Smithed items, I'd imagine that there's an ok chanceof getting elemental armor, as well.

Of course, IIRC, nobody has seen an Elemental BP drop yet, but the other pieces drop.

Well, I studied my server economy a bit more and decided not to make Hurricane armor of any flavor for sale now. Made myself gauntles and vambraces with the supplies as upgrades to the Underfoot I was wearing. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Probably could sell chain sleeves, coif, and maybe gloves but the margin and uncertainty leave me a bit cold.

You mean an elemental chain mail pattern which a rogue turned in. Not a rumour.

                        question Boleslav

How many attempts did it take for your Gauntlets / vambraces?

Those are the 2 pieces I want in Hurricane to augment my Underfoot.

However, I am now 0 for 4 on the gauntlets. It is driving me nuts. granted, I know how it works, I failed enough on the Blue diamond when it came out also.

Just frustrated, was wondering if you had as bad of luck, or not

The paladin effect "nicety" is subjective. Go say that over at PoN.
It is a nice utility to have clicky Crusader's Touch, adding a spell slot in effect if you need it, but otherwise falls short compared to other BPs.

I had about 19 hurricane tempers last night. I made coif, sleeves, gloves, and boots.
I kept trader on overnight, and see I sold the coif and sleeves.

As far as Hurricane goes ... Plate takes too many components to be marketable. Hate to say that, but its just that bad.

As for chain, arms are the best way to go, I think. Don't touch gloves, Kylong Darkmail are better and easily farmable. Coif isn't bad, either, but I find headgear moves slowly. Boots may do okay; there are some nice boot options, but Ornate Chain Boots are very rare and these aren't bad. The other pieces simply compete against too many other options.

Are those the effects on the real items? The rogue BP listed avatar, the real one doesn't have a click.

I have to say that with BoT opening up for the 62+ masses, pure rain prices started dropping. A guildie SK of mine, after a day of exping in BoT, ended up with 4 Drops. They seem a fairly common BoT drop, off vann casters.

The appeal of Hurricane is that its resale potential is far higher than cultural, as it is not race/deity restricted.
