    Mudcrush,

You have 2 successes and 6-7 failures on the Farwater Plate BP?

Egads ... guess the trivials are not at the same level as the other PoP stuff. Certainly changes my willingness to pay the prices asked for some of the upper tier pop components

In all honesty, I find the success rate on elemental armors (both smithed for me and tailored for my husband) is FAR better than BD cultural items.

Maybe I just got lucky - and maybe it was a heavy dose of karma - but we've just been very very fortunate.

It would just plain suck if Farwater is harder than the others. I am one E'cian Ice away from trying Farwater and that has taken many mini-raids to farm. I didn't see soapstone until a week ago. With as hard as the components are to gather (water just plain sucks for drops), it would just kill me to have the success rate be nasty as well.

Yes, the best droppable legs ARE Farwater. Tae Ew might be the best droppable legs that many people might reasonably see, if there are in smaller, non-raiding guilds or if they get more enjoyment out of tradeskills than raiding. I happen to love both, but not everyone does. Tae Ew is achievable with a single group, without a lot of flagging hassle, if you are persistent and patient.

Mudcrush, I wish you greater success on your future Farwater combines, but sincere congrats on the BPs! That is a great achievement.

        Greaves?

Came in here to check the drop rate of the scales for plate and I'm glad I found this thread. The info pretty much suggests what I was expecting. You're not going to find them dropping off the green lizards at the front.

One question I have though, why the greaves? I'm currently wearing BD cultural, and just comparing the stats, I don't see why I would choose to wear Tae Ew over Blessed Full Mithril. Its a nice second choice for those that might have goofed on a their diety and can't wear the imbued cultural but even then the imbue only adds wisdom in most cases which is only important to Paladins and Clerics

        BD Cultural = 40 AC
        Tae Ew Plate= 32 AC

This can translate into a significant difference in worn AC improvement.

        BD Cultural = 40 HP
        Tae Ew Plate= 90 HP

Considering your average PoP mob hits for 150 minimum and usually over 200 is the extra 50 HP worth sacrificing the AC?

        BD Cultural = 10 WIS
Tae Ew Plate= 4 WIS, 4 STA (more HP), 4 STR, and 4 INT

Ok granted, as a highelf, I need STA as that is my weakest stat but 4 pts isn't going to make a tremendous difference unless I have Natural Durability and other associated AA as high as they will go.

Comparably, the Breastplate has only 1 less AC then BD cultural, 30 more mana, 5 more STA, 2 DEX/AGI (which might make up for the AC loss), MR/PR/DR and the same HP.

If I had to choose between those two, I'd take the Tae Ew over the BD cultural. I had a look at the other racial BD Cultural and most of them have something that would cause you to choose a Cultural BP over Tae Ew but I still don't see why the greaves are such a huge deal. I think I'd do, in order, BP, Sleeves, and then Helm.

From what I understand, for a main tank, HP > all other stats.

            *nod*
hit point, hit points, hit points.
            and more hit points.
            Max defensive AA abilities
            and get more hit points.
I'm not saying that AC means diddly squat, but more hit points means sucking up more AE damage, taking a better and longer beating.
I was grateful to wear ac 10 legs at one point because they had hit points.
