If the scales dropped frequently enough, I'd probably quit worrying about my tailoring skill for the Steelweave I've been wanting to make myself, and whip myself up a nice set of CT Plate instead.
That's the skill I SHOULD be focusing on, and its still higher than my tailoring despite all the time that's gone by.

On DRo we have people selling them for 6-8K. Still too expensive when you think that it takes 6 of them to make the greaves..;-/

I was stunned to find 2 that I had planted on a mule of mine a long time ago. Now I just need 4 more to make the legs, or else I might go and make a piece that hasn't been made yet..

        Please change the rates

I have been making a living at doing Tae Ew Shields and Tunics for some time now. On Veeshan, there is a fair volume of bloods around. Tae Ew blood sells for around 2k and the iksar blood for about 800p normally. Sometimes, I can go a week without seeing any at this price in bazaar, but usually I can at least get 5 or 6 bloods a week. Of course they are also farmable with any kind of decent group.

With the high success rates on Tae Ew stuff, it seems to me that the shields and tunics are almost too easy. I agree with what has been posted about it making up for BD chain. This stuff is a good substitute. However, most cultural tempers require at least a couple of rare drops plus blue diamonds, plus chanting the metal, and then half the success as Tae Ew.

On the opposite extreme, you have the tae ew plate. The scales are ridiculously rare. I will probably do several hundred chain and shield combines to every one plate combine. In fact, I have yet to do a plate combine. It might take me 6 months to a year to see 6 scales for sale in the bazaar and this is on a very mature, home of FoH, server. Furthermore, most smiths would never make anything other than greaves because of the known stats and rarity of scales. Except in the legs and maybe BP, cultural armor is probably better than Tae Ew plate. In my mind stats are balanced, drops are not.

My solution: I truly think that blood drops should be reduced by say 30%. Scales should be on the same drop table as bloods and there should be about a 1 to 4 ratio in scales to bloods. Don't mess with the stats, don't mess with the success rates, but make the chain and shields a little more valuable and the plate at least attainable. Plate should be harder than cultural to do, but not impossible. Chain should be about as hard as cultural.

Cleared up to top of pyramid half a dozen times in the last month, and saw one scale off a brown lizard a level or two up and one on the ground floor of 4c. I go with a strong group, and we do a lot of killing, sometimes hanging around 4c for a while, sometimes just racing up to the top of the pyramid. Still, only two scales in a couple months of going a couple of times a week. Three scales in 4 hours like Aleena got is an incredible run of luck.

            Aye - rare

            Im on Dru Ro.

Ive made 2 plate greaves, one for my war Toomstond (gm ogre smith) and one for a guildmate who has logged in many many hours in CT with me.

I guess Im just pokeing my head in this thread cuz I saw Gryf said he still has 2 scales and that 6 to 8k was too expensive. Well I bought the 4 on our server in the baz for a average of 7kish. Id offer the same for yours if you like. Gimme a holler. Looking to make a pair for sale / trade. Thanks Gryf.

Hehe, the point being that I want them myself, but paying that kind of money when you can MQ armor that is about as good for significantly less PP, as well as lacking the 'whoops, failed' part is kinda...random.

So I intend to make them myself, sorry, not for sale..;-)

And it's not that I won't pay PP for the scales, but at a certain point it's just not worth it.

Totally understand Gryf. Nothing like finally makeing the item u want after a long hard road.

Tho not sure I agree with being able to MQ comparable armor for alot less. At least not for war`s. Plus MQ`s aren`t tradeable, so its kinda hard to compare the 2. I think SS plate legs for SK`s are comparable if not better for them and I know Thurg & prolly SS cleric legs would be preferable over Tae Ew. Honestly tho, the market isnt really those classes. War`s especially the ones that are agnostic & Iksar / Vah Shir as noted above really dont have a better option thats droppable or even questable short of ornate or even elemental smithed. Even then you would pay as much if not more for the MQ of ornate and prolly far more for farwater and loose the droppable twinkable aspect of Tae Ew.

Imo, there really isnt anything out there that is even remotely like Tae Ew Plate legs. Well, not that I know for sure, but from what I do know LOL. Giving the rareity of the item and the part that they are droppable / twinkable 51+, really hard to compare them to MQ`s.

Will be quite a rush if I end up buying all the scales for this combine and turns out to be a 40k+ combine.

Personally, I'm willing to spend 3k each on Scales easy...

Heck, I'd probably spend 5k each on Scales if I could get 4 at once.

I would pay 3K too...MAYBE 5K..but the price people were starting at was 10K. They just recently dropped down to 8K (with one at 6), which I think Uumdano purchased.

It all depends on how annoyed I get at having unstackable sheets taking up my inventory space, and how much I am will to just buy and combine to just DO it. Usually depends on how much liquid reserves I have..;-)

As a note for folks that care or are wondering on any type of price.

I was offered 100K on the second pair I made. I wasnt even auctioning them. Someone was working a trade and the other person was asking for tae ew plate greaves in return.

I dont know what the actual final value of a pair would be. I do know though I prolly would not sell at 100k price. I know of multiple Tae Ew Leather legs and Robes that have been made and sold on our server. I dont know of any other plate legs besides the two I have made, tho I imagine by now there are prolly 2 to 3 more on the server. Im fairly sure no plate legs have gone up for sale and because of this, Id imagine they fetch a pretty platinum.

I guess this post is in response to the beginning of the thread. Someone asked how much the final item would be worth. Id say its whatever the highest bidder finally offers you. Hopefully the 100K offer I have had gives ya a idea.

I'm on d-ro as well, also with 2 scales muled, trying (and failing) to get 4 more, to take a shot at greaves. They are exellent greaves, I'd retire my Underfoot Greaves in a heartbeat if I ever made the CT ones. But at 10k a scale, that is 60k on the scales alone. One fail, 120k. I'll go buy a Narandi's helm, thanks. At 5k each I'd go ahead and spend 20k to finish the collection, take the chance. But I wouldn't want to spend a really big chunk of plat hoping for a pair that I can sell- I'm not sure if another pair would sell for 100k now, though the rarity alone might do it. But a lot of the folks with the bank accounts for it are up into the elemental planes now, I think.

Got my 5th scale yesterday - and am trembling in anticipation of getting a 6th. They'll be the "Guild Greaves" for a very long time if I succeed - kinda get passed around as people get upgrades.

It seems like an almost impossible task and I just want to DO IT!!!

It is good to have goals, even if they seem impossible.

Grats! Very nice. Can't imagine how long it takes the average person to get six of them.

                                Best tradable...

Best tradable plate greaves for any plate are farwater.

I have never made these (have made 2 farwater breastplates and failed 6 or 7 times).

I have made two tae ew plate greaves and failed one and am 1 scale from another try.
