  • Earthen Temper -- for Dwarven Cultural.....

Quick question.. and I have looked and used the search feature to find out, but have yet to come up with anything...

I am currently working on Fine Plate to get my skills up (at 166 now). I farm my own silk and hides to make the padding.

As I begin to move to Dwarven Cultural I know that I will need to start brewing up this Earthen Temper.... What zones are best for farming the Mercury and lavastones?

Thank ye kindly for any advice provided....

Lava rocks I was able to get most easily from twilight sea. However mercury drops are pretty rare there. I got those much more easily in Steamfont by the mino caves.

    Hope that helps

Drops of Mercury can be made by a good Poisonmaker really easily, but I farm my lava rocks in Twilight Sea.

Thanks! which mobs do I need to focus on in Twilight Sea for the lava rocks?

I would assume that mercury drops from the elementals near minotaur caves?

I farm the bazaar for lava rocks personally. And make the drops of mercury in PoK via vendor sold materials.

Fire Elementals drop Lava Rocks... best to dispell them, their Damage Shield can be very annoying.

            Earth Elementals drop Mercury.

Best two zones to acquire lava rocks: Twilight Sea and The Bazaar.

Farming Drops of Mercury isn't worth it,especially since it takes 2 drops per rock for the temper. Just hook up with a rogue and have them make it for you.

having just gone through the poisons page and not recalling a thing about making drops of mercury...

what's the recipe? what's the skill lvl needed? is it worth someone's time to make a rogue alt?

Elementals in The Hole are also a good source for Mercury. I think you are just past the level for hunting them (as dark blues), but you may be able to direct guildies there to level up and buy them off them.

I did a batch of smithing for someone who had leveled a twink there for several levels, and got something like 400 mercury as partial payment.

At 55 the Hole is still a great place to AA. The ZEM is insane, some of the elementals are dark blue and all of the crusaders and rock golems are.

I do Twilight Sea for most of my lava rocks (fire elementals), with some Skyfire and Najena. For mercury, I mostly do the Hole, with some Twilight Sea and Najena.

I wind up getting a lot of mercury off vendors though, and the rogue made mercury is a great easy way if you have access to a rogue whose worked in poisons

I don't consider the bazaar a realistic option because the prices are just insane. 20-50pp per mercury, 40-100pp per lavarock? Not worth it, imo

I can agree with you on bazaar pricing...

why does spider silk go for up to 10pp? I would never spend more than 5gp on one. Not when I can go farm 5 stacks in an hour...

And low quality hides too. spendy in the bazaar. I just train up to 8 hoppers in Marus seru.. Cast my AoE spell that kills them all in one shot... drop rates are not so bad. can get 4 stacks in a few hours... make my own leather padding....

Bazaar prices for tradeskill items are just outrageous...... figures...

Thanks for the insight into zones for obtaining Mercury and Lava rocks...

Honestly, can 55 Cleric Solo in the Hole? as long as said cleric pays attention to being safe? or is there some nasty surprises to be in store?

Can a level 1 Rog skill up to make Drops of Mercury?

I never knew Drops of Mercury could be MADE ! ! ! This makes me happier than I've been in a while. But now I have a question... :?

I was reading the FAQ at
                              http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=43

Here it mentions that poisong making can go up to 250 without mentioning any level requirements for skill caps. It then mentions alchemy with level/skill caps.
Q: Can I have more than one trade skill over 200?

A: Yes. You can have one of the basic trade skills above 200, up to 250 skill.
The basic tradeskills are: Baking, Brewing, Tailoring, Smithing, Jewelcraft, Pottery, Fletching.

You can also raise a Class Specific skill, Poison Making (Rogues), Alchemy (Shaman) to thier maximums if you are the right class.

You may also raise the one Race Specific skill, Tinkering (Gnomes) to the maximum.

Poison Making can reach 250 skill.
Alchemy can only be raised to the cap for your level. At level 60, this is 180. At level 65, it is believed (as of this writing in October 2002) that this will reach 205.
This leads me to believe that a level 1 rog can skill up to make Drops of mercury.

Now, I've read on the Safehouse & other places that the Poison making skill has to increase in line with your levels. Anyone able to confirm this one way or the other? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
