If you are a human druid, you can use the MQ ore that drops in Runnyeye to skill up with as well... I think some HQ ore drops there also incase you're a Halfling.

You may also get some milage out of doing newbie armor quests that require smithing. I know I've gotten skillups with my Halfling Rogue making his armor. Not sure if you can actually do combines for other class armor, but I have read somewhere that you can get the kit from any of them by telling a little white lie... ("Of course I'm a rogue... Would I lie to you?)

      Not buying water?
WOW. Um, I thought I was roughing it by getting all my ore bigger than pieces from rusty weapons, but that was nothing. I am not a twink, and broke, trying to raise my smithing. I'm up to the banded level now.

        Minor correction:

MQ ore is NOT dropped. It is *only* bought from vendors.

When you can go to HK and kill guards for FS weapons. There is a forge in the zone so you can convert right there to make HQ ore. Mind you faction should not be a big deal to you.

I've had (RARE) electrum bars in beholders as well.. I BELIEVE it was a minotaur but it was a long time ago.

I get silver bars maybe once per hour.. I think I've gotten 2 electrum bars EVER.

Hmm, a lightie druid may not want the faction hits in Qeynos and Freeport that you WILL take killing HHK guards. It will kill your faction with both Qeynos and Freeport guards. I know that there are guards on Qeynos faction outside Surefall; I don't know if there are any inside Surefall that may make a druid's life difficult. I'm not sure this is a good choice for a druid.

I agree -- HHK guards do drop swords and there is a forge in Highhold Pass, and converting fine steel short swords, the type carried by HHK guards, is even economically sensible. However, the forge is in Highhold Pass, meaning you have to pass by several guards on your way in and out of HHK with your load of swords, and you have to go into other parts of the pass to convert them. A druid can invis, of course, but once you have tanked your local faction killing HHK guards, you could end up in a world of hurt if your invis drops.

And whoever mentioned that MQ ore does not drop, they are right. The ore drops in Runnyeye are HQ and unrefined ore, not MQ.
