    Yes, that's something I wonder about...Ngreth hinted that the drop rate in the appropriate zone will be 20 times the drop rate in other zones...but I dont think anyone witnessed something as good as that anywhere...not even in Crystallos. What is the appropriate zone then ? ...is it even in SoF ? ...is it somewhere else ?

      Thalassius has a great drop rate for ore got at less 5 Tantalum Ore in a 2 hours run, i wasn't paying attention at all to the loam tho, but it shouldn't be as bad as Forteress Mechanotus.

        There is a better then even chance Crystallos isn't correctly set. The quest items from there aren't being accepted from the quest givers. There's a lot of iffy things in meldrath's as well. My experience there could simply be a case of getting there before it is ready.

          Ngreth,

          Can you explain why spinnerets would be double the drop rate of marrow and porous loam? I understand why silk would be doubled, since twice the amount of silk is required to make a combine as any other base material, but only one spinneret is required in any combine.

          Thanks,

            because of a mistake in my original logic

            It has been fixed in the new tables (which still need a patch)

              From what I can tell, the intended farm spots for the Elegant/Sublime finishing drops (loam, marrow, fluid) is the Tier 3 and 4 zones in SoF. It has a small chance to drop in Tier 1 and 2 SoF zones, and an even smaller chance to drop off any level 77+ critter, but the chances are insanely low outside SoF.

              I'll see if I can get the full list of zones by tier in SoF. I know it's been posted a few times already.

                T3 zones are...

                Gyrospirez (no apropriate mobs though... so skip it)
                SHIP Workshop
                Steam Factory
                Meldrath's Mantion (keyed)

                T4 is ONLY

                Crystalos (keyed)

                With this basic knowledge... I may go in and add steamworks to the "humanoid" table to give more chances for drops (and makes it include gyrospire zeka)

                    Spent a few hours in Steam Factory to get enough foundry workers to finish Sublime pattern task a couple days ago. During that time we had 2 exquisite spinneret fluids drop, but no porous loam dropped.

                    Porous Loam is by far the rarest of the drops for the new elegant armor & sublime augs...with sellers raising price up to 200k-300k for each porous loam in bazaar. I've only been able to make 6 Elegant chain/plate BPs (plus a few of the other armor slots) since SoF release due to difficulty in obtaining the porous loam at reasonable price, so it will help if/when drop rates go up.

                      I'd suggest trying Thallasius missions as well for Porous Loam. They're by no means common drops (we cleared the entire instance about 15 times) but here's what I found so far:

                      8 Porous Loam
                      9 Tantalum Ore
                      1 Exquisite Marrow
                      2 Exquisite Animal Pelt
                      0 Exquisite Spinneret Fluid
                      5 Exquisite Silk

                      It's a too small sample to draw any real conclusions... but it appears loam is the most common drop of the 3 there.
                      I'm starting to get an overdose of these missions (again) though hehe, most cons went lightblue at lvl 79+, but my usual group has 5 plate/chain classes and 1 leather class so we'll keep doing them untill we find a better zone.

                      On Drinal the buyers are currently offering 150K+ per loam, and I have yet to actually see one for sale in the bazaar. Tantalum ore has been for sale, currently at 40Kish each and slowly coming down. Silk & Leather components are a LOT cheaper: 1-2K per silk, 10K per pelt, and I've seen a couple of marrows/fluids up for 80-120K.

                        There are a lot... and I mean a LOT of golems in Thallasius missions, which is why loam is disproportionate. Considering that golems drop only plate/chain and no silk/leather, that's the discrepancy.

                          *nod* that's why I hunt there =)
                          Also a lot of human type models though (mephits and kedge mobs). I've been getting lots and lots of superb/flawless pelts, silks, fluids and marrows as well. I think I just had some bad luck on the exquisite marrows & fluids drops.

                            A Porous Loam just dropped from a steamwork trooper (humanoid) in Gyrospire Beza. November/28/07.

                              Loam = Clr/Bard/War/Pal/Sk + Ranger/Sham/rog/Berz = 9

                              Marrow = Bst/Monk/Druid = 3

                              Spinner = Ench/Mage/Wiz/Necro = 4

                              So Loams are needed OVER twice as much as the other items.. This doesnt take into account there are far more plate classes (cle/war/pal/sk) then others on most servers.

                              These drop rates really need to be balanced against the # of classes taht need them. Having the Cloth/Leather stuff so common compared to the plate/chain makes cloth/leather armor about 5x cheaper then plate/chain, and this isnt correct IMO.
                              Don't forget the marrow and fluid are also used for augs as well as armor, so I am sure it changes your numbers, as in we all need augs?

                                There are more GM smith than GM tailor so some loam are getting used up for symbols.
