  • Windstone drop location/descrepancy

    On this page:

    http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/info/database_drops.htm

Under "Brewing", windstones are listed as dropping from only grimlings in grimling mines in Tenebrous and Moktar tribesmen in Umbral Plains.

Under "Smithing", windstones are listed as dropping from Crag Ligi and Meeda Hune mobs in Tenebrous.

    What is correct?

    Thanks!

I can verify the drops from both grimlings and the light blue aliens in Tenabrous mountains. Very rare off the the grimlings, find a lot more (relativly) on the Cral Lugi (sp).

          From my experience only...

In T.M, Meedu Hunes and Grimlings and I think I got one from a Crag ligi..

In T.S from the Elementals (Earth).

          I have not hunted S.D.

            twilight sea

            Heyas-

Think I've gotten them from the elementals in twilight sea (RARELY), but the best drops I've seen are the teb mtns grimling caves, OR off the crag li's (light blue aliens) in the north area in twilight sea. Gotta kill the regular aliens there to get the crags, but there's a LOT of aliens up there to kill, and static spawn instead of roamers like in teb mtns...

I got some off of the tro jeg (I think, whatever the red aliens are) on top of the plateu in SD. Strangely, we had 3 windstones drop, but none of the other Luclin gems, so I'm guessing they added windstones specifically to these guys.

                Elysians drop them also

I've gotten a few from Elysians while hunting with my druid.

                  Are you sure???

I spent 2 hours hunting the grimling caves in TM without a single windstone drop.

I farm the grimling caves in Tenebrous quite a bit, and a windstone an hour is above average, but they do drop there.

                      Windstones

We got some from those tro jeg guys in the caves that lead to Radir in Umbral Plains

For windstones there are 2 grimling mines in TM (which I will call "the one closer to katta" and "the one not closer to katta"). The one closer to katta has more ore drops and fewer gem drops, the one not closer to katta has more gem drops (including windstones).

I've hit up the grimling caves in TM a few times and can agree that the 'not so close to Katta' one has considerably more gem drops, though I got just as much ore from both caves after clearing both about 5 times each... might've just been my luck at the time.. dunno, but Windstones definatly drop there, have found 9 Windstones in just those caves so far.

                            re Windstones

Since low end human culteral is not worth the fish wine I use to make it I use acrylia to try to make some plat.

Grimmlings = holy crap suck drop rates

Blue aliens = have not camped for over 2 hours straight but I would say so so

red aliens = little bit better than blue

UP = best source for windstones imo...course toughest place to farm them as well

Windstones were made a rare gem drop in most Luclin zones a while back. Best drop rates that I've seen, before and after that change, has been the grimling orefinders/formen/laborer/Runner in Ten. Mtns. The Tegi (I think that's the official name for te lil "alien" guys) in Ten. Mtns have also dropped them, although since they wander and are harder to track down for me, I don't have a good sense on comparing the drop rate to the grimlings. Both also drop acrylia ore of various types. The Meeda Hun and Cral Ligi also drop Essence of Wind.

The grimlings drop better VT weapons, while the Tegi drop better gems.
