The expert smithing trophy I made somewhere near 250 stopped evolving at 38% even though I am 300 skill and made several combines post 300. When I petitioned the GM claimed I missed several steps but wouldn't elaborate much more than ask your peers. The two NPCs involved in this won't talk to me since I have a smithing trophy, so I thought I would ask if anyone had a clue why a trophy would stop evolving and how to fix it besides deleting it and making a master trophy ?

are you doing these combines in the Guild Hall? If so, that's your problem, trophies are bugged w.r.t. guild hall, they won't evolve there.Master Artisan Maevenniia the Springy Sprocket Stockpiler of the really long name

The trophy must be set to evolve (there s a tab for evolving items on the top of the default inventory screen).
The combine you are doing must be non-trivial (in your case any combine 301 or higher). (When your raw skill is less than 300, the non-trivial combine must be within 100 points of your raw skill).
You must be successful on the non-trivial combine.
Often multiple, successful, non-trivial combines are are required for the trophy to evolve a single %.
If yours is still broken, then your best bet is to probably redo the trophy. A GM will not be able to provide you a trophy where you are, as the can only creat new items. Several people I have had in game conversations with recently have reported that GMs (on Tunare at least) report they (the GMs) can only create the 1/7 trophy. Thus you would have to evolve the trophy from there.
Destroying the old trophy and repeating the quest now will get you a 6/7 trophy (once you do the certificate combine). From there you will hav to follow the steps above to get it to evovle to 7/7.

Actually what it is is "unreliable" in the guild hall. Your millage will vary
I find that from time to time, instances do not get "script" data. And when this happens, trophy's will fail to work in the instance. Guild halls are instances. Probably most of the time you will be fine. But if you really find a problem... move out of the instance into a live zone and you should have better luck.
But almost ALL of the reports that I have been able to track down as anywhere near valid on the trophy not working... has been in guild hall, and when it is that, it is because guild hall was missing some data... NOT because the trophy itself was broken.
I have continued to pursue the problem of data sometiems not being complete in the guild hall.
In the end... I have stopped worrying about the trophy itself though, because I have never found a case where I could re-produce a trophy not working in a normal zone in a long time, it just ends up wasting time that I could be spending on other things. 100% of the time it has been user "error" of some sort. And I put error in quotes, because I admit that there are alot of "rules" for when a trophy evolves, and it is easy to miss something simple and have it not evolve. I am not trying to call anyone stupid or anything like that. Errors happen. I have wasted coder time tracking down bugs that turned out to be bad data ion my part. I understand that mistakes can happen!Ngreth Thergn

Just don't do any combines that are listed as being green to your modified TS. That's what the only thing that has fixed this bug for me.
If we cannot re-produce it (I NEVER have outside of the guild hall, and only once in a guild hall where I was able to confirm that scripts were bad and I got the instance server updated in that case) and we see noting wrong with the code or the script, then we are just spending time doing nothing at all.
We really cannot find this, because we absolutely cannot produce it whatsoever. I really HAVE found user error 100% of the time when it was not a guild hall with bad data.
I really am not ignoring it, I just absolutely have not found a problem! Am I supposed to say there *IS* a problem, jsut becuase users have made errors?Ngreth Thergn

Any chance you could get the system to check that you are at the right TS container when doing your evolving combine (when you have your certificate)
I admit it was a very stupid mistake, but I was in such a hurry to see my smithing trophy evolve that I equipped it (as I knew that I had to) and stuck my certificate in the first forge that I saw (which was a half elf racial forge)
It ate my certificate, didn't evolve my trophy and now I'm hoping to get it reimbursed as I don't want to go through the hassle of doing the whole quest over again.

It may have been the more generic not able to use the forge since the race does not match. (Not specific to what I did in the script) But the certificate really should have been in the forge. Very Odd. It should not have even made it to my script which is only on a "success." If it is happening it is a code bug that it even reached my script.Ngreth Thergn
