  • Is there any way to tell the which Vale Sewing Kit?

It looks like the sewing kit for halfling DoN tailoring and the one that makes the Leatherfoot Haversack are both called "Vale Sewing Kit". Is there a way to tell them apart?

yes, try sending the link a tell (i know this may sound odd)

    ;t ValeSewingkit

where "ValeSewingkit" is an actual link to the item.

EQ will send you an error message akin to

    " 00034-43234-4234343notfound"

and that will identify it. (each item in EQ has it's own unique database entry)

Then you can compare the kit to a known kit to decide if it matches or not.

Nice tip, I never knew you could access the numbers so easily.

My program (see sig) will also identify which type of sewing kit you have as well as a bunch of other stuff. It's not as quick as using the tell method, but does convey more information.

They seem to have made the ;t trick to figuring out which item it is a little harder. What you get now is a long stream of hexidecimal digits where the first six digits is the item number. I suspect the following digits are item numbers for augments in the item, xp level of the item, etc, etc.

For the vale sewing kit, 004594 (17812 decimal) is the old sewing kit, and 016ad2 (92882) is the new sewing kit.

I believe most of the old kits have decimal numbers less than 64k while the new numbers are all more than 64k. So a possible rule of thumb would be if the second digit is a zero, then it's an old kit. If the second digit is a one, it's a new kit.

The same ;t trick was offered as a means of determining if the wine and bread given to you by bristlebanes little jokester thing was posoined or not. I don't know if those would be as easy to distinguish as the kits since their numbers are very close to each other.

One of the things I'm working on for my program is something that will allow you to click a hot key from eq and pop up a window with either the lucy/eqitems/eqtraders/allakhazam page for whatever item you currently have on your cursor.

Couldn't you also save one of the combines that is only done in a certain kit as a favorite? Then when you open the trade interface you can see what recipes are available.

I believe the recipes will still show in the wrong kit. But you could save 3 tuft of dire wolf fur and the embroidery needle, then do a combine to verify. Of course if you want to verify before you buy in the bazaar, the link seems the best way...

Inevitably you will be shopping the bazaar for these old kits. And it's there that where I found the answer.

I took booth of mine to Cearlyna in the Bazaar and exchanged for Tokens.

The kit with the old recipes yielded :
