  • Sunlight prices

In the past Essence of sunlight seemed to average 80p each.
    I offer 100p each.
I figure since IF someone sells Royal Temper ready-made (rare occasion it is indeed), they usually go for 300p (heh someone left message on my mule that is selling extra earthen temper for 200p each that the price was stupid they never saw for more than 50p each. BAH!)

Lately on TP, people have been trying to sell for up to 200p.

What is the deal with this?

There are only 3 known human cultural smiths on TP.

    I am one of them.

One has been shipped out on military assignment, the other is semi-retired. He even posted disgust at the prices people were trying to sell it at too on TP server tradeskill forum.

This has left me saying to people you get no armor from me unless you supply the sunlight, as I refuse to give in to scalpers.

Unfortunately I dont have my necro or druid high enough to farm chromodracs or know anyone that frequents Skyfire.

I tried filling an order a couple months ago when no sunlight was for sale. I went to Skyfire myself and proceeded to endure mind-numbing buffless fighting of the green-con, but can still kill you if you don't pay attention chromodracs.

What is your server average on Essence of Sunlight?

On Quellious I have seen prices as high as 300pp each. The average is about 175pp. Personally I have never paid more than 50pp. Of course I haven't actually used any yet as I just started farming Hollowshade Moor this week. But in anticipation of doing Luminant Heraldic for my own use I am stock piling essence of sunlight, blue diamonds and rain water.

Prices on Torv are in the 200-300pp range.

I am also stockpiling, courtesy of a friend who is farming them for me now and then. Well, he was, until he broke down and just bought himself Luminant Heraldic BP. I am still a long way from being able to make my own

        Re: Sunlight

This is disgusting me. Before I was able to make the BD armor, I accumulated a couple stacks of sunlight. Never paying 100 plat for one, usually around 6! to 75. Once I began making it, I made alot. One guy decided to cash in on it and began buying all the EOS and reselling them for 300 plat each. The last time I logged on, there was some joker selling them for 450 plat each and another selling them for 375. I recieved an order for a full suit of Fierce Heraldic and ended up paying 350 each for 15 sunlight. I almost puked.

I then failed 5 times in a row trying to make a helmet!!!! I haven't played in a week now...lol. Coincidentally, the guy who started buying them all up has 2 cloak of flames, a fungi and several other 50k plus items for sale.

I rarely find Sunlights for sale for 150pp. I will buy them for up to 200pp each, as they are a pain to farm. Time > money. I normally see them listed in bazaar between 200 and 400 each.

On a side note, the price of Midnight Stones in our bazaar went from 200-500 each to 1500-2000 in one night. For months I was able to buy them for 200 or so, then overnight the price jumped to a minimum of 1700 or so. Did this happen on any of your servers?

My pet peeve as well !

On Tarrew Marr, I see them for around 200pp and less (but I don't watch the prices as its an item that is not useful for me. Personally, I sell them for 40 to 50pp, as thats the most I would pay for a Lava Rock.

I hate that, the fact someone can come in and put a price 10 times or 20 times what the normal is, then everyone in the market follows suit. Which really throws those of us buying components for a loop.

The only way to bring prices down, is to stop buying at inflated prices. On the server I play on, one person had a H.Q Brute hide at 1k. So everyone else went to 800+pp. I never bought any for a month or two and prices are down to 75 to 200pp now, and dropping. Of course stopping all production for a month or two is not something many of us would want to do.

I have zero problems with players hunting temper components and or say making Leather Paddings then selling them at the Bazaar (which I doubt anyone would), then selling them at a reasonable price. But (IMO) its just laziness for people to expect to get 1k for an item such as a H.Q Brute Hide...

I have hunted in Skyfire, and killing Chromo's is not fun at all (good pp but).

You really have to make a choice, hunt your own, or buy what the market has to offer.

Hehe I hope this was not a rant

                Rezsticks and Supply & Demand

Well, my guess is that after Sony changed the Ragefire spawn for the cleric epic, there were lots of people faming in Skyfire. Result - LOTS of people killing anything that moves. Lot's of sunlight dropping.

Now that the cleric epic backlog has cleared up - plus fat, juicy exp in PoP - the number of people hunting in SF has gone way down. Wouldn't be surprised if with the BD drops in PoP, more armor is being made on soime servers - especially by guild smiths who do free combines for guildies/friends.

Prognosis: while scalpers are a pain, it's more than just that. It's also a smaller supply coming into the world.

Tunare, used to be around 200-500 a go, LOTS in the baz. Then about 2 months ago the entire supply seemed to dry up - or maybe I am shopping at the wrong time. I am farming them myself now /yawn.

PS If your sunlight prices go up, put up your armor prices. And more specifically, if 350 is too much to pay for sunlight, you are selling your Heraldic too cheap

Not that I follow Essence of Sunlight, but if you need the stuff why not organize a spell ganking group? Take a group down to SF, pull every named mob in the zone and everything else on the side. Casters will be happy to get spell drops, others will be happy helping out the guild, you'll be happy with smithing components. As incentive you could even offer to use a few essence of sunlight gathered (say 1/3rd of it) to do free combines for those going (they provide the rest of the comonents of course) and not getting spell drops. I can't think of a guild that wouldn't go along with such a plan. If ya did this regularly I'm sure the price of essence of sunlight would go down. (but what would you care? you'd have a supply!)

There is a problem with telling folks to brink supplies...

                      Best case scenario:
You go into bazaar, needing a stack of sunlight. See if for 100 each, scoop them up. You make and sell armor.

                      Next scenario:
You go into bazaar, needing a stack of sunlight. See if for 300 each, decided to make others supply it. Joe Scmoe, needing only 2 essence has no problem with 300, pays it. You make and sell armor. Price stays at 300 (its selling)

                      OR

You go into bazaar, needing a stack of sunlight. See if for 300 each, decided to halt production. You don't make armor. If you have to turn down requests, and no other smiths are making, then nobody is buying. Price comes back to 100, and you return to best case.

So be careful when requiring supplies from your buyers. It can keep the price high as those buying only 1 or 2 don't mind paying 3 - 4 times what you would.

On E'ci all the human cultural smiths I know (all 2 others of them) are holding the line at 100pp each and refusing to pay more.

Just seconding Kotorou on E'ci. I don't think I'm one of the other 2 smiths he's talking about, but I see EoS prices in the bazaar ranging from 100-250pp. I only buy them below 125, and only pay more than 100 if I need to make a temper. I'm currently sitting on a stack of temper, so I don't feel the pressure to pay more yet, but then again, I've got 9 more points to go till I hit 241.

                            quellious

Oddly, I've seen the same thing on Quellious. I know of no one that's buying them at these prices, and the constant level of the supply on the vendors that are trying to get that much plat for them seems to confirm that. The only time I see their inventory change, oddly enough (sarcasm) is right after someone else sells one for the normal price of around 50pp each, and they beat me to the vendor. :x

Another problem that I've recently bugged that *MAY* be contributing to the increased price is that they recently changed the behavior of Chromodrakes in Skyfire. It used to be that they would only proc their dispell while in melee range (and the boil blood proc). NOW they proc the dispell at range, and the boil blood...making them a MUCH larger pain in the butt. Pretty much have to fight them buffless, or with buffs you don't care about recasting. Only way to avoid the dispell is to root them and nuke them/dot them with an Extended Range item...which isn't anywhere near as efficient as the old method, and you still suffer the dispell when root breaks or something. I did /BUG this...I suggest any sunlight farmers do as well, because it's a recent change that has resulted in Chromo's taking over Skyfire. Before that large 'EQ in a window' patch, I zoned into Skyfire and saw literally 30 chromo's and not a single other type of mob around the BW zoneline camping area...was really eerie.

I refuse to pay more than 100pp per sunlight. They aren't rare, they aren't in a difficult to find location, and anyone asking more is just trying to gouge the small market. I hope no one buys so the price drops into the reasonable range...though it doesn't affect me personally, too much...I still make armor with my stash of tempers.
                            Good travels,

I've heard the boil blood procs at longer than ER ranges for standard spells.

The human smith on SH says they don't pay over 100pp each. I see them for 200-500, don't keep track of inventory movement. I've pulled most of a stack off vendors, not sure if I should save or sell.
