Where have you find Metallic Drake Scale ?

I looted 2 purescale ore doing the "sickness of the spirit" mission (Tier 2 progression, good side).

have looted 2 metalic dragon scales in first mission in stillmoon temple - the mission where you have to obtain a plan and bring it to a contact and kill at the end the opposite agent. First dropt from third mob we killed - ad dragon style left hand at zone in. Second elswhere in zone.
on second run of the same mission - no metalic dragon sclaes
purescale ore drops more frequently - have aprx. 10 banked.

I am working on human GM book for symbols - I have to loot 80 of the goblin hides that frequently drop in all other zones - but this ones have to drop in stillmoon temple and is said to drop in mission to count for task. Whereas I have recognized that when I killed stillmoon laborers für the blood in progression task - the kills counted against the target of 120 - beeing puzzled - will hides drop to and when will they count?
In 2 missions only 7 of these droped - 73 to go - any advice apreciated.

You can get all the kills outside of the missions or inside a mission, however the only drops that will count to your task for looting would be the drops within the mission itself.

So far on my GM quest I have 78 kills and 44 Arachnid Eyes, hasn't been too bad so far on the human qeynos side.

arachnid eyes dropt in the mission dcs (d..c..swiftly) which has steps that want you to kill 15 spider - do these drops count? then this is much easier than the freeport one.

on the othe hand - in the stillmoon mission we had metalic dragon scales drop

They "might" count if the spiders have "Lavaspinner" in their names. If I remember correctly, that was the key thing with all of the GM tradeskill quests.

I have been loving the Lavaspinner's Locals mission for this. All in all, it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete, you have to kill 45 creatures, 15 of which have to be spiders, and in the end, you gain 41 points. It's a great deal all around in my eyes.

There's a mission called something like Lavaspinner Eggs where you have to kill around 30 spiders and then open some eggs. There's nothing but spiders in zone, they repop, are fairly easy and drop the eye clusters a lot.

Then again, I need fractured drake claws for my quest

The fastest way to get Arachnid Eye Clusters appears to be the "Forbin's Elixir" mission. It is completely made up of spiders.

So far I have seen neither of those missions, the only one that I currently have in the good camp is Lavaspinners Locals. What is the faction/progression requirement to unlock those two?

I did one called Infested on the Good Progression (I didnl;t get the mission, not sure where it is in the progression) and we seemed to get the eye clusters on at least half the kills or more.

Been playing around with "A Simple Task", had fairly good luck drake scales, averaging ~1.5 a mission across 4 (think we got at least 1 per mission). Of course in those same missions we've seen 2 of the 50hp augs, so may have been on a lucky streak.

Mission is also unforgiving. We blew our first attempt picking the flower just before pulling the goblin gardener. Blew 2nd attempt thinking we were funny and trying to use pot from 1st attempt, lol. Did not cut any corners attempt #3 and succeeded.

more dropping after patch?

Has there been a increase in drop rate since the last patch? I have had alot more scales sold to my buyer recently, or maybe its just the server merger thats meaning more people = more DoN missions = more scales available??

Would like to know as i dont wanna end up with a surplus of them if the price is gonna crash!

UPDATE: seems it was likely it was just a busy weekend on the server, there are certainly more scales available in the baz but people i have since spoken to say they are still as rare as ever.

I only saw 1 scale drop in about 9 creator missions this weekend. Group avg level was between 68 and 70.

I have seen many more scales for sale on my server as well. Not sure if it's simply because there are more people on the server now, or if it's because they're no longer so new, and smiths/tailors aren't just saving whatever they get to make for people they know.

I've been away from EQ sometime before PoP went live. I came to back to the game about a month ago and looked into some tradeskills and all the information is a little daunting.

My goal for now is to make myself a set of plate GM darkelf armor with my smith. I have been trying to collect some information about where to get metallic drake scales and I searched out this thread.

The question I have is, since this thread started back in the middle of 2005, has there been any patches that have made the scales more accessible? If not, is it only possible to get them at avg group level 68+ DoN missions?

I group with 3 friends on a nightly basis, lvl 70 shaman, lvl 70 SK, lvl 66 ranger and a lvl 62 cleric(me). We are all pretty averagish I think with about 50 AA's each. Would the hard-level (68+) missions be doable?

I did 2 creator missions on the weekend, and got one MDS in one mission, and two!! in the other. at the end of each mission instead of rolling we sold em to /Buyers and man...that was a really nice /split, hehehehe...
