One interesting question about the upgrade with lightning cores.
Can you do that combine after you have equipped a piece? (ie once it has already become NO DROP)

      I would sure hope so...

It's a risk to find out. I would suggest it be done by some pure melee with one of the Worn Magnetic (non-visible slot) items, as they take the fewest supplies to make in the first place.

Haven't seen much info on it anywhere else, when breaking a magnet breastplate down into magnetic bricks, I got one magnetic filings. Did a fair amount of magnetic smithing, and only saw one. Does not carry a tradeskill tag, unsure of its use. Anyone know anything about it?

I've gotten about 25 peices in about 20 hours in MPG but have yet to see a single core drop. How rare do they seem to be turning up?

Got 7 pieces of armor in 5 hours. Never seen a lightning core drop.

I think they messed it up.

Anybody find it odd that the Shoulder and Neck pieces are 'worn magnetic' for classes War, Mnk, Rog, Ber (melee) while the rest are 'magnetic' and for classes War, Pal, Shd, Clr, Brd (plate)?

IMHO, Sony mixed up three set of armors and got the names wrong on at least two pieces in the first tier Magnetic set.

It looks to me like the Magnetic pauldrons, boots, collar, belt, gauntlets, and bracer come from a 'damaged' set that is high-end velious in statistics. The collar and pauldrons are the only two pieces that have names reflecting this set.

The Magnetic helm, breastplate, arms, and perhaps gloves seem to come from a set that is between Ornate and Elemental in stats.

The Charged Magnetic set appears to be following the same broken pattern, with the vambraces and belt having statistics that belong in the Magnetic set.

I succeeded last night making a Magnetic Helm and I was all excited to wear this new creation since it was a nice upgrade. I was disappointed though, the helm has no graphic. So, now I get to wander around with my shiny dwarf head exposed for all to see. Does anyone know how to brew up some sun screen? I am going to get burned unless my new helm gets a graphic!

                  Here here!

I was really dissappointed when I found out it was graphicless. I like the plate helm graphic in general, and it also has the benefits of the horns (old models) and to hide the big bald spot (new models).

I know most people like no-graphic helms ... but I'm not one of them Would be nice if there were some general option to toggle helm display, since I can't see them putting in the Velious armor "normal vs customized"-type quest for every single helm, and any other way some group won't be happy.

It appears that the Magnetic Filings are only produced upon "converting" a damaged/dented/whatever word they use Magnetic Breastplate into Magnetic Bricks.

The Magnetic Filings are used (along with a Lightning Core ) to make a Magnetic Charm. A Charm that improves the more visibile Magnetic Armour you wear.

My guild has basically been hunting in MPG for 3 days straight...we've had a ton of armor drop ( I've been able to make every piece at least twice), but only seen 2 lightning cores.

I've had to resort to using a toupe now since my healm has no graphic. I need someone to tinker, tailor, fish, or whatver a better looking toupe! Mullets really went out of style awhile back!

After 60+ hours I have 1 core. In the bank I have 2 BP 3 legs 3 arms 3 helms 3 bracers 2 shoulders and a belt already made and needing to be charged. This doesn't include all the junk I've broken down to make bricks and bolts or the one BP and leggings I've failed. The armor drops are fine, but the drop rate for the cores seriously needs to be tweaked.

The Charged Magnetic Armours are very good... Elemental quality, in fact (other than the Vambraces ).

Given that, I think the drop rate on Lightning Cores should remain moderately low.
