  • Recipe in-game, prepare to beat head against wall...

    http://mboards.eqtraders.com/upload/...threadid=11368

Maddoc, the new tradeskill guru says:

"That recipe actually did work providing you had a "Sewing Needle", but alas... The recipe for "Sewing Needle" is, as of yet, undiscovered."

Have fun with this one. The tailors will love you. :P

this recipe may not be live -- just because he said the recipe for the needle is undiscovered doesn't mean it's implemented. the lemming fur backpack (which originally required a sewing needle) has been changed to use an embroidery needle instead. this implies to me that the sewing needle is NOT actually implemented.

I took this to mean that the needle was in game, but since they gave us a freebie recipe (the lemming bag recipe was told to Denmom), they figured they would be nice and change the needle so we didn't have to wait for it to be discovered.

I'm mildly skeptical about recipes said by devs to be "in the game" ever since that whole fiasco where Lum the Mad visited the tradeskill people in person and demonstrated that a recipe they'd sworn over and over had been tested and worked in the game... didn't.

While they've probably learned their lesson about testing on live servers, (Actually, putting it that way is unfair, it's not even the same crew these days) the memory of skepticism past tends to keep me from spending hundreds of hours looking for unsolved recipes.

Does anyone know exactly when the Sewing Needle Mold got introduced into the game? I know it was there when I was growing up in Qeynos so it was either at inception or with Kunark.

(Copied from Tailoring thread. Didn't think to check here first.)

                    DNCs

                    In Tailoring kit:

                    Snake fang + Sharpening Stone
                    Snake fang + silk thread

In Forge: (with and without water)

Needle Mold + file + metal bits
Needle Mold + file + metal bits + sharpening stone
Needle Mold + file + metal bits + file
Needle Mold + file + metal bits + sharpening stone + file

Needle Mold + file + HQ metal bits
Needle Mold + file + HQ metal bits + sharpening stone
Needle Mold + file + HQ metal bits + file
Needle Mold + file + HQ metal bits + sharpening stone + file

All of the above + snake fang

The way I read the message is there there is no Sewing Needle in the game. SoE can be cryptic when it comes to anything in game. They will say things like has yet to be discovered meaning either it really is in the game but no one has made one or that it really does not exist. I am voting that the reciepe does not exist.

Also most of the times when items really are in the game they will not alter the way to get the end results. Thus by that logic there is no sewing needle. Also Lucy has no Sewing Needle listed.

I hate to throw this into the pot, but, perhaps it is fletched, like the Burin for the 7th shawl.

                        Main Entry: bu·rin
                        Pronunciation: 'byur-&n, 'b&r-
                        Function: noun
                        Etymology: French
                        Date: 1662
1 : an engraver's steel cutting tool having the blade ground obliquely to a sharp point
2 : a prehistoric flint tool with a beveled point

A steel cutting tool should by all means be made in a forge. But, the burin in game is made with a tusk. If the sewing needle is also made with a tusk or fang of some sort, then we might want to look to this route also, and not just in a forge with a mold.

cultural needle. use embroidering and clockwork esscene i think. you might want to try that though.

edit has anyone thrown in a scaler. its gotta have a use for something after all.
