You must have a lot more shamans than we do if your melees don't want primal weapons...

In any event, if they were going to make Primal Avatar droppable they would have done it during the Sleeper's revamp. You could always buy Ferine Avatar instead.

Ancient Spells are also avaliable from ring of vulak i believe which doesn't require a key.

Yup.... Ancient: Feral Avatar and the level 65 Ferine Avatar. Both are component-less, like Primal Avatar. Feral buff for 120 rather than 100, with the same 3 minutes recast/6 minutes duration. Ferine buffs for 140, with a 1 minute recast/6 minute duration.

A couple of Shamans with Ferine and SCRM can usually keep most of the melee damage dealer in a raid happy.

          Primal Avatar

Primal Avatar is a NO DROP shaman spell that only drops in Sleepers Tomb. Ya, the Illusion: Vah Shir is no drop, but it is not in a keyed area that requires everyone in ur raid force to be keyed to get to. So, I doubt that Primal Avatar can be made.

Probably. For the same reasons Group Primal Essence isn't researchable. Pretty lame they aren't researchable.

Vah Shir is in the small room just past the room with the pillars... the one that has the secret door that leads to Rhag Zhezum... not keyed

ok, keep up to date.. we determined middle of last page that no one cares about prim.... er.. that primal was removed.

NOW, we're trying to figure out why.... looks like it was a no drop spell, from a keyed area.. which then got the question asked.. are there other spells like that around. If the answer is yes, and we can still research them.. then maybe someone can ask Sony "What's Up with Primal?"

If there are other spells like that, and those also have been removed.. then.. well.. we have a good idea of the pattern their using to exclude spells.

It's all much more scientific than beating epileptics because they're possessed by deamons.. that's so.. 19th century.

I'd be *very* interested to see where else you think Spell: Primal Avatar drops, other than Sleeper's Tomb. It doesn't drop off Kunark dragons, Emperor Chottal, guardian wurms, etc., as that is Spell: Avatar. It doesn't drop in VT/Vulak/Seru, as that is Ancient: Feral Avatar. Its not the result of a rune turnin, as that is Spell: Ferine Avatar. As far as anyone that I have ever spoken to can conclude, including the consensus of the major active shaman board, Spell: Primal Avatar drops only off the non-Ancient named in Sleeper's Tomb/Kerafym's Lair (to wit, Progenitor, Final Arbitor, etc.).

To answer others' questions, this scroll is unique. It is the only NO DROP tagged scroll in game, other than those from "sets" of spells which are no drop for all classes (LoY quest spells, PoP vendor spells, Ancients). Back in the late-Velious/early-Luclin era, a lot of complaints were raised about this inequity. It was explained that this scroll was added to Sleeper's Tomb after the initial launch of the zone, in order to appease shaman who felt that the Primal weapons were eliminating their need for the Avatar spell. Its success at accomplishing this goal is debatable. Regardless, becuase it was intended only for shaman who would be taking part in Sleeper's Tomb, it is not droppable ... and, although now woefully outdated, is likely to remain so.

Also, in response to another post, the reason why Primal Avatar is not researchable is not the same reason why Group Primal Essence is not researchable. GPE is not researchable because the spell does not exist in scroll form in game. GPE exists only as the right click effect on the Primal Cudgel (which, despite the name, is NOT from Sleeper's Tomb).

All quested spells are no drop as far as I know.

Dragon Bane, Giant Bane, Concussion being examples of wizard spells that are non-researchable and no drop off the top of my head.

Illusion Vah'shir IS tradeable. I bought one.

Primal Avatar is no-drop, and therefore it would be pretty silly to have a mage research it.
