Do you HAVE to own LoY to do new research?

wait wait wait wait! I am confused. I am an enchanter with 150 skill right now but i DONT and CANT own LoY... does this mean i cant do reseach and make my beloved KEI? I nearly had orgasms just thinking about not having to pay 15K that I dont have in 3 levels. Please dont tell me there is no hope... i might cry.

Sorry, wish I had a box of kleenex for you. If you're unable to get access to LoY by the time you hit 60, the best you can hope for is some really good scrounging luck for the pieces needed for it, and a really kind and really lucky LoY-enabled enchanter to do the combines.

Many of the new LoY tradeskills (tailoring the ribbons, tinkering, some of the alchemy) have a no drop component, preventing folks unwilling/unable to purchase LoY from making the items.

Its... just so cruel. I cant get PoP either... I will never get 60 I will never get my spells... I will always be broke from the dots I buy to stay alive. The solo'rs have taken over seb and now I am forced to live in velks.

Verant had a bit of kindness. When it took me till luclin to come out to get velious, I had all the spells because friends bought them for me. Luclin had few spells for me at the time but I didnt get luclin till PoP came out. and now this.

For what it's worth, Clailya, if you know another enchanter with good research skill who DOES have LoY, s/he can make the spells for you if you gather the components.

You do know that it doesn't matter what class you are for you to research another classes spells, don't you? You just need to use the proper research book.

Not true. I combined Malo last night successfully in my Sorcerer's Lexicon.

Clarification: You can only research int caster spells for your own class. But any researcher can do any researchable priest class spells. Wizards can do spells for wizards, clerics, druids, and shamans, but cannot do spells for chanters, necros, or mages. Mages can do spells for mages, clerics, druids, and shamans, but not for wizards, chanters, or necros. Etc....

the exception of course being spells usable by multiple classes, such as levitation and improved invisibility. both of these can be made in a wiz book or an ench book, with different recipes, and levitation can be made by anyone in any book with the wis caster recipe. either one can then be scribed and used by any class with the spell
