Elysian skeletons near entrance to Vex Thal in Umbral Plains. They dropped Spirit of Eagle a lot when I farmed them for AA's back in 2003 or so.

Discovered Tome of Scowl Rk. II recipe. It is posted in the database submissions section.

Evidently the recipe that everyone was using as a template is incorrect (Skill: Mock) and probably should be changed sometime in the future.

Ink of Pain should be Ink of the Tribunal and there should be an additional ink (Ink of Clout).

Hard to complain about finally getting Scowl solved.

I am sure I put twenty hours all told into trying to find that one and in the end the previous spell was wrong.

Perhaps a solution to a few of the other more stubborn missing spells.

What are the rules for older/lower level spells being researchable?
I find that I can research almost *every* non-quest-reward caster/priest spell, even if that spell is sold on an NPC vendor or drops off a random mob.
But shadowknights seem to get short shrift.

Here's my list:

52 Comatose (quest spell, probably not meant to be researched)
55 Shroud of Undeath (drops off one mob in Chardok, pretty annoyingly rare)
55 Shroud of Death (drops off various random mobs, mostly in Western Wastes - not sure why it cannot be researched since other classes around that level may research spells)
56 Soulless Fear (DoN camp crystal purchase - not sure if this should be researchable or not, but Ichor Guard is so .... ?)
57 Shadow Voice (DoN)
58 Deathly Temptation - this spell has about 4 sources, all of them *raid* mobs. It really seems like it should be researchable
59 Terror of Terris - another spell that drops off a very few mobs. These seem researchable on other classes.
61 Soul Guard (DoN)
61 Soulless Panic (DoN)
62 Shadow Bellow (not only on the DoN vendors but also a PoP spell meaning it really should be researchable, no?)
65 Ancient Bite of Chaos (GoD Ancient rune - betting this is not supposed to be researchable)
70 Ancient Bite of Muram (same as above)

What are the rules for older/lower level spells being researchable?

The rules have generally been that any spell that drops off specific mobs rather than a general level range of mobs is not Researchable.

That being said, a good number of the spells you mentioned are quite likely Researchable. All DoN spells were made Researchable and although there is certainly a chance an error was made and a few were forgotten, there have been no DoN spells specifically excluded from Research.

So:

52 Comatose (quest spell, probably not meant to be researched) - No Ykesha spell has been Researchable so far
55 Shroud of Undeath (drops off one mob in Chardok, pretty annoyingly rare) - restricted drop, likely not Researchable
55 Shroud of Death (drops off various random mobs, mostly in Western Wastes - not sure why it cannot be researched since other classes around that level may research spells) - some validity, so it might be Researchable, or it was decided, like Spirit of Eagle, that it drops in only a zone or two, so is not Researchable
56 Soulless Fear (DoN camp crystal purchase - not sure if this should be researchable or not, but Ichor Guard is so .... ?) - almost certainly Researchable, although the recipe may not have been found
57 Shadow Voice (DoN) - almost certainly Researchable
58 Deathly Temptation - this spell has about 4 sources, all of them *raid* mobs. It really seems like it should be researchable - restricted drop, so likely not Researchable
59 Terror of Terris - another spell that drops off a very few mobs. These seem researchable on other classes. - restricted drop again
61 Soul Guard (DoN) - certainly Researchable, as I have made it myself
61 Soulless Panic (DoN) - almost certainly Researchable
62 Shadow Bellow (not only on the DoN vendors but also a PoP spell meaning it really should be researchable, no?) - likely Researchable, although it bridges two expansions, so that might make an exception
65 Ancient Bite of Chaos (GoD Ancient rune - betting this is not supposed to be researchable) - no Ancient spell is Researchable
70 Ancient Bite of Muram (same as above) - no Ancient spell is Researchable

Basically, out of your list, only four spells are likely not Researchable due to how they drop, one not Researchable due to being Ykesha (where no spell can be Researched), two Ancient (there are more Ancient spells at 60 that cannot be Researched) and the rest likely are. Four SK spells being droppable only is really not unreasonable from where I sit.
