Let's see...
My main, Gilud, is a 52 shaman.
I made a wizard to learn research, and used the practice rune system to build skill to about 100, and made the spell Odium for Gilud. Woot!
Now my wizard needs to get her skill close to 200 to make Spirit of the Howler. I've been reading, and rereading, various posts, and the spell research area...but still find myself confused and uncertain as to how to proceed to build research skill and make specific spells.
Do I continue to do the practice runes? I thought I read that with the new system, these are basically obsolete. While complicated and time consuming, they are clear and easy to follow. Is this true?
If instead I should build skill doing systematic research, how do I know what I need to collect and combine at the appropriate trivial without wasting money?
And recipies....I read "try one of these, and little of this, and 4 of those...", and I found the spreadsheet that uses ID numbers and is apparently out of date...

I'm unable to see the forest for the trees, as it were. Can someone please spell it
out for me?
Thank ye
