I don't think he's saying that you'll be able to buy 16-xx researchable spells in TSS. Look at the first sentence of the quote : "You will be able to get any spell that you can buy in the original EQ, Plane of Knowledge, and Serpent Spine itself".

The way I read the whole statement is that you'll be able to buy PoK, Original EQ, and TSS sold spells in TSS. You'll be able loot dropped research components of all levels, and buy the storebought ones, in TSS as well. Whether the LDoN and Omens research materials will reuse older drops or new drops is something I could only guess at, but I'd expect that 61-65 LDoN spells (such as level 63 necro spell Horror) will use the appropriate DoD parchment.

I think TSS as a "stand alone" (I.E. you have nothing else) gets you original EQ, free zones (which now include PoK, Guild lobby, guild hall, bazaar and probably a few others) and TSS.

So there will definitely be some spell research that cannot be done, and some spells that may not be available to folks, assuming you are avoiding the bazaar as a "source." (with the bazaar, potentially all spells but DoD, PoR, DoN and Ancients will be available)

but there should be enough spells available to get at least a spell in each level range if you ONLY buy TSS.

You will not be able to get every spell in the game, if the ONLY thin g you have is TSS... but you should have enough spells to play the game just fine.

I could be very wrong with this statement of course

So does this mean spells like Divine intervention and Remove Greater Curse will be dropping from mobs in TSS? or just that the research pages required to research them will?

(theres also a mage spells that is missing from my spell book that only drops from Ssra that Id like to see...)

One other thing to bare in mind... Research only really took off with the addition of DoD... which is the primary reason everything feels tightly together. Since the new system works amazingly well, I'm assuming that Research will stable out much like Smithing and Tailoring have in terms of making armor.

No, it means that you could go to the bazaar and buy it. Or you could go buy the parts needed to research it. Doesn't necessarily mean it would need to drop somewhere in TSS.

I gave up on having a "full spell book" ever since ancients were added.

I don't consider being able to buy a spell in the bazaar as it being available in the expansion. It has the additional requirement that someone else went to a different expansion, and got the drop for the spell.

Besides, the pages needed to make them are so rediculously rare, that they won't be affordable by people starting in TSS for a very long time (assuming they are not added.)

                Hello there Nolrog!

The infamous words that everyone always has a hard time finding respective to their spell power.....we all know the ones, yaeth's compendium pg. 73 right, words of torment, Part of Toharon's Memoir Pg. 22, etc etc can drop in a wide variety of places as we are led to believe.

Real world experience has shown me though that some words really do tend to drop in specific places. Ssra is a great place to farm words for funeral pyre. Plane of Mischief is a great place to get yaeths compendium pg. 73, I can't remember where the secret closet for Thoaron's Memoir Pg. 22 was, but it's also in a pretty much forgotten zone.

If Divine intervention is not available for sale in the bazaar, I'd be willing to bet that if a person was keyed for VP, they could get it much easier if they took a friend or two.

Those have been my experiences anyway.

In old VP, the Divine Intervention spell itself dropped reasonably frequently, not the components to research it. I have no idea about the new VP, as I've been locked out of it since they changed it.

                    The spell still drops there.

I never mentioned anything about yaeth's compendium 73 right side dropping in VP, as I don't think I've seen it there personally.

Since TSS has come out and over 20+ hrs of grinding in Direwind, I've seen a total of 9 research components drop (2x 70, and no more than 2 of each of the others (66-69)). Now, you can easily spend 20 hrs in DoDH, or OoW and maybe see a comparable drop rate.

Fact is, 66-70 research drops are NOT going to be common .... nor plentiful. Your best bet for 69-70 OoW spells will STILL be to loot runes and turn them in for spells. You may have to turn in runes in order to get the spells you want, but you also aren't facing 380-405 trivials to attempt to get 69&70 spells made to order from very rare drops.

Be glad Ngreth made 66-70 OoW spells available as a research option, and get off your butts and either go farm mobs that drop OoW/DoDH spell runes or continue to go after OoW/DoDH mobs that drop runes for the spells you need.

At no time did Ngreth say that 66-70 spells would be easy to research or obtain materials for. Only that it would be possible.
