Research skill max limit increased?

While making a few spells after the patch today I got the message saying my skill had increased from 200 to 201.

I've taken a look at the patch notes and there's no mention of it that I can see.

Anyone know anything about this one?

I just tried and unsurprisingly I can't be trained further.

I'd love to know what the new limit is and why they've changed it without mentioning it in the patch notes

I just leveled up to 201 on Divine Intervention. Had to look twice, but definitely at 201 now. Very cool.

On Veeshan in PoK, someone was shouting that they were able to raise their Research skill past 200 at a trainer. They were understandably confused. Maybe you just need to be high enough in level?

Probably depends which trainer, I know some old world guildmasters would stop training at 180...

It can be trained to 250 now... 200-250 = 4950-5010 plat, and 50 build points..

You musta hit one of the npc GM's that aren't a full gm... which sounds odd, but there are two types, and the one can't train past a certain point in anything.

I used the dark elf GM in PoK, in the building next to the neriak stone. Was kinda nice being able to spend some of my buildpoints.... finally.

I am hoping, and yes it's purely a hope, that this will be leading to making the PoP spells level 61-65 researchable. There have been some casters within my guild that have given up playing their casters they've had as mains for years because of the stupidly high priced spells from PoP they simply can't get. 15 months after release, it shouldn't be this way.

Overall that leaves me with a bad feeling. I'm hoping these aren't just more screwup bugs caused by a patch.

Given that, it would appear that there are 3 levels of gm's, not just 2. The ones that raised people to 200 were the ones i considered the head gm, but if those can't take people as high as they can go, then there is a set of gm's on better than them.

Hey, thanks everyone for this post. My husband's enchanter trained up to 250 last night based on the heads up (he was at the previous max).

It appears that the trainers in PoK are the ones that can take you over 200. At least, that was true of one of the posters above and also our experience.

If you already have one tradeskill over 200, can you still raise research over 200 without using the AA ability New Tanaan Crafting Mastery? So does research count as one tradeskill for which the tradeskillcap of only have a limited amount of tradeskills above 200? Or is it still possible to have 7 tradeskills at 250 and additionnaly also raise research over 200?
