I was just wondering what the success rate on the undergarment is like in comparision to solstice robes. I believe both are trivial >250, and my success rate on solstice robes isn't "great", but still decent...

The success rate for most seems to be noticably worse. Personally I failed twice at 232 skill + skill mod and then 1 for 3 at 250 modified skill and finally got it at 250 skill on my 5th try over all. Then again I've got guildmates who got it first try at 220 skill.

This isn't very scientific, just my gut feeling, but see if you agree.
I don't believe the success rate would be any lower than 5 percent with unmodified 220 skill. If it was that bad they'd require even more than 220 to attempt it. So... you should have a minimum of 37 percent chance if you're at 250 plus geerok.
I don't believe the 'difficulty' (see success rate faq) would be any lower than 220, otherwise they wouldn't set 220 as the requirement. Therefore you'd have a maximum of 82 percent chance at 250 plus geerlok.
So success rate between 37 and 82 percent. Partly because of reports from people who've done it, I'd guess it's closer to the 37 percent end.83/1000 High Elven Enchanter on cazic (8x300 tradeskills)

Right now I'm sitting at 225 (unmodified), I've got a bunch of flawless hopper hides and alot of tunare silks, all adds up to 100 more combines or so. If I can get 228 or 230, I think I'll be happy. Though 230 would be ideal, that'd put me into the 240 modified skill area. We'll see what happens I guess.

I did the robe at a skill of 232 + mod and failed it twice.
Personally if I had to do the skills + quest all over again i'd only go to 220, it's easier to farm robe components imo than it is to skill up tailoring.
From what I've heard form other people regarding attempts to success on the quest robe the PoTC robes seem to have a higher success rate.

Someone in my guild just failed the robe for the 3rd time at skill 220ops:
At tailoring 232 I had a much higher success rate on the PotC robes without using the mod than 1 in 15 combinnes (which is why I stopped at that point for cost reasons). In the low 230s I was suceeding on approx 30 to 40 percent of my robe combines while not using a mod item.

So, for the folks who've gone through 3 ... 5 ... 7 ... more attempts, I have a question.
How?
Seriously, I can solo either set of spiders in zone, and do so regularly. I've seen sap, but I can't imagine getting enough for 5+ attempts, as I'm struggling to get enough for a second now. Do the yellow-con ones in Field 2 have a better drop rate? Or is it a subtype that seems to drop sap the most (ie, not spiderlings, or so forth ...)?

Over 15 hours in field 1, clearing it over and over: 1 sap
3h in field 2: 4 saps
Might have been luck. I don't think it was.
