3rd shawl - griffin eggs... broken?

These eggs seem to be non-existant, perhaps broken (on Xev at least). Over the past week or so, i have killed 18, yes EIGHTEEN (I counted) snow griffins in Eastern Wastes.
I looted a LOT of feathers, and a good amount of talons, but ZERO eggs.
My friend came by when I saw the elder up (cuz im only level 36 and the elder is too high for snare to stick) and killed it for me - no egg.
Another friend has been hunting them and has killed about 3 or 4 so far - Nada.
So we have 21 regular snow griffins and 1 elder... with zero eggs???
Somethings wrong, I petitioned, waiting to hear whats going on.
I know these are supposed to be rare and all, which is fine and dandy, but even assuming I had gotten 1 egg from these 22 griffins, that would still take 88 griffins to get the souffle. since i havent gotten one yet, id guess abbout 100 griffins - far too many for just the third shawl. This isn't the 8th or anything.
I would definitely say this is broken, and I won't bother killing these guys until SoE patches it.

Paitence is the key. One night I went to EW with a friend, spent 3 hours killed maybe 23-24 griffons, got 1 egg. Went there a few nights later got the last 3 in under 10 griffs. Its like the RNG, streaky at best.

If you kill 10 or so without an egg, log off for the evening. Its not worth the aggravation.

Patience is a virtue when hunting eggs. I killed about 40 over a two day stretch without a single egg. I was killing everything I could find trying to make more griffons spawn. The elder griffon introduced himself while I was beating down a mammoth and dropped my first egg. Got three more in the next five kills. Drops can be very streaky like that.

What really hurts is if you fail the combine.......

I set out to do this quest awhile back
Without a tracker it's a pain in the patoot, but doable.. in the end I used sence animals and hoped from bunny rabbit to bunny rabbit.
First three griffs all yielded eggs! Woo hoo! One more

Well, long story short a week later and at least 15 or more griffons later I finally got the 4th egg :shock:

Thankfully I didn't fail (Did this quest once before with a different character, failed the souflette and gave up)..

My druid has done the first two shawls and is collecting stuff for the third while thinking about working on her baking skill.

Last Friday, she was hunting in EW and killing Snow Griffs if she happened to run across one. She killed four and looted one egg -- three more to go.

The RNG hates you.

i hate to tell you. There are quests with FAR more rare timesinks than that one

(remembers the Vex Thal Key shard /cringe)
(remembers he still has to finish up his sigil earring of veracity and all he needs are 3 more reports in seru /cringe)

yeah, but you dont hear about lots of other people getting the items for those quests on their first try for everything... first three griffins and 3 eggs? 15 griffs later to finish it? thats exactly what im at, without any little griffin babies... :roll:

LOL Kahmon .. sooo true. Long after completing my 3rd shawl, I was hanging in EW with a group of friends who were looking for the manticore manes and intentionally triggering the KDS for s--ts and giggles. While running around we were killing every griff in sight hoping to spawn the manticore. In this I collected an aditional 4 eggs without even trying/wanting to. Looks like someone is gonna be a happy MQ receiver.

so true. when i was collecting snow bunny meats for the second part, i had to kill 12 snow bunnies to get 2 meats. since then, i have looted 6 meats out of 6 bunnies :roll:
The RNG truly does hate me...


UPDATE: SoE needs to update their RNG. i logged on again today and killed another two griffins, making the 22nd of ones i personally killed. then i killed one and almost crapped my pants.
THERE ACTUALLY WAS AN EGG ON THE CORPSE!!!!!
it was very scary, i looted it with caution, afraid it would jump out at me and turn into a feather. then, i see the elder very close to me. I con it, and its very red, but it was also indifferent. i saw a druid right nearby who had dire charmed it. i told him to send me a tell when he didnt need it anymore, and he did about 1/2 hour later. i got to loot it, and it had another egg!
so basically, i killed 22 griffins without a single egg, then 2 in a row both with an egg. yeah, thats random :roll:

still got another 2 eggs to find (and possibly another 4 if i fail which i better not cuz i have 191 skill and a 5% geerlok making it 201 - but knowing my luck i will have the 5% post-trivial fail), so only 25 more griffins or so to go! not 100 like i had thought!

Remember to be sure some other food is in your topmost slot, and don't eat the eggs

ok, so the RNG does not hate me. its just thinks im fun to play with

i logged on today and killed 3 griffins, first one without an egg then two in a row with one. strange that in 5 griffins at the end had all 4 eggs, even though i killed about 25.

and then i baked the souffle and DIDNT FAIL!!! yup, now that the RNG and me got to know each other, hes really not that bad of a guy
