neither did I. neither did the people who implemented shadows. that's what I relied on - I turned on shadows to do the box placement - i assumed if i see a shadow, the sun is hitting it, regardless of whether i could see the sun. maybe i just got lucky?

From the massive amount of complaints, it is obviously overall NOT a raid level item.

So despite this one PART being better than any other group item, Overall it is not a raid item because the overall stats and such do NOT make a raid item.

That one part just makes it better than many other group items.

If we change every part of it to be raid equivalent, then well... it is then a raid item, instead of a group item that has a really great element on it.

We have to look at the item as a whole to call it a raid item. This is currently not a raid item. If we go and change everything to raid stats (or like one poster suggested better than any raid item in the game....) then it is a raid item.
Thanks Ngreth just karnfused between the two and how they get applied. Having finished it I'd say the QUEST was the winner to me, me and a guildy did it together and we really had a good time doing it and draggin people without a clue as to why along to all the different zones. In the end it's bout the journey not the road ffs.

I may still decide to go in and script things up (the only good way to enforce it ) so that you have to do it in order, but frankly I do not want to.

You definitely need the result of each task in order... in order to actually complete the task. Each of the final combines requires the results of a previous step. Except for maybe the baking/fishing task... there is no overlap on any of the tasks. They are all in different zones.

I think it would be good to leave it as it is. For those of us actively doing the quest, it allows us to make progress wherever our friends might drag us. I for instance spent time inside the guardian before I got the second task, and so had lots of soot rot I really could have used.

Separately from those doing the full quest, I could imagine a lot of rangers would be interested in just the fletching part. They may generally have 300 fletching but not much in other tradeskills. They would hear on the grapevine about a new wonder arrow and so set out to discover its secrets and make it. With things the way they are currently, this is possible. This does not affect me as I am a member of the 2100 club who is doing the quest for the sake of doing the quest just like I did the coldain shawl/ring, Aid Grimmel and BiC, but I really would like to see an option open to the fletching specialists who have no love for the other crafts.

You can try another petition telling CS that your flags are set improperly becuase of a crash, but I do not know what their solution for it would be.

did you ever find a way to get reset? i personally had this same exact problem and posted somewhere around page 4, but never recieved any response from ngreth, nor any gm yet. (even though i was talking to a gm while participating in a GM event)

No, I appear to be on the CS ignore list.

I think I am pretty much hosed until after the patch that will allow me reset my flags.

                • Phew, just finished the fletching step. If you'd like to the shadow boxes with a minimum amount of time wasted, here's what I did. Combine the celestial essence box at midnight, then the vodka box immediately after. Make a /time hotkey and hit it every few seconds at 11AM to make sure you have a good 3 minutes to do the rest of this when noon begins:
                  1. Combine the last gem covered box with juice of quellious in your fletching kit.
                  2. Drop your fletching kit on the ground.
                  3. Move the first shadow box into your empty inventory slot.
                  4. Move south of the altar, face north, right-click the first shadow box.
                  5. Move the second shadow box into your empty inventory slot.
                  6. Move west of the altar, face east, right-click the second shadow box.
                  7. Move the third shadow box into your empty inventory slot.
                  8. Move east of the altar, face west, right-click the third shadow box.
                  9. Target the middle shadow box, /open.

Now I gotta see if I can get a group willing to go deep into Bloodmoon.

So you're supposed to clear the entire room to be able to do the combine? I've tried a couple times now and the best I can do is have 8 mobs up before repop. I can't see a group of 6 doing this. I'm going to have to make a raid for this

I finished mine yesterday, but have a question.

The walk-through says to uncover box 1 and 3 at midnight and noon respectively, but in the Shadow-Counting book doesn't actually say this is requried - the indication from the book is that for box 1 the stars must be out (i.e. it is night-time, not nessasarily midnight) and for box 3 the sun must be shining (i.e. it is day-time, not nessasarily noon).

Now I didn't want to risk death and my boxes, although I was really twitching to try with the brownie box (since it only takes 5 minutes flat to get another one) - but is this whole midnight/noon timing thing just a tool to ensure it is night/day when people do the combines - or has it been confirmed that it must be midnight/noon exactly?

                      • Anyone have tips for getting the eggs for the brewing step? Do group instances work, or don't they count? I imagine some of the group instances would have the zone mostly clear except for the spider area.

Ngreth has already said (I think) that instances will not count or maybe someone else in this thread posted that they don't count.

EDIT: Tank287 said: Had a spider drop the bit for the brewing task in one of the 12 man raids done in BMK but guildie said did not get a task update for it. So regular zone only, no instance spider drops work?

That's all you need. Bring good dps, even with the extended repop for the further in mobs with the hps they got you'll need it to clear through and stay ahead. A good puller is a must and CC for the rogue mobs. For me bout 1 in 5 spiders dropped an egg. Take the shortcut tunnel through the jail cells area, will save clearing a lot of mobs.

What worked for me (/poke ngreth since it's not a raid item that can in cases require a raid ) was to pull the casters first then clear near side. That should leave back half of room and melee mobs only. Invis group, park yourself far side of reactor. DI the puller or whatnot, had bard DB, then train them buggers down the hall there. You got a good bit of distance so take em as far as puller can. Just start clickin combine soon as they aggro and start running after the puller.

Everything (with casters deaded) should take off pretty much asap after puller. Works like a champ, they just have to put on their nikes and run them FAR away. Down the hall a bit don't work they really got to suck it up and go the distance.
