  • DoN Gnomish Tailoring quest

Hoping this is in the right forum, please correct me if not.

Doing the tasks toward making Grandmaster armor, I'm killing lots of random mobs. First in Crushbone, then in the Hole. These are not really too bad, and although there are streaky drops from time to time (e.g. killing about 20 elemental monstrosities more than the 5 required to get mercury), it goes just fine.

However, the next step is in Skyfire. I need to kill 80 old wurms and loot 40 items from them. The problem is .... it took me 45 minutes of running all over skyfire to find even a single old wurm. I pretty much covered the zone, and didn't find another one there.

Anyone else running into the same difficulty? Maybe there's a trick to this -- are they hiding in some corner of the zone that my nontracking self can't find? Should I be killing everything else to spawn them? At this rate, this part of the quest will take so much longer than the rest that I just feel like I'm either missing something, or the quest is set up much harder for gnomes.

p.s. just as a side note: I notice that, as an example, the dwarf quest requires Though Horrors in the Deep for this stage, which are a very common mob.

I haven't hunted in skyfire since DoN came out: do the wurms in skyfire still lower Claws of Veeshan faction? If so, this would prevent me from doing this quest untill I've done all the VP quests I can do.

Apparently they only drop Ring of Scale faction, not CoV.

More hunting around, and almost NO old wurms to be found. Plenty of other wyverns, chromadracs, etc.... even other types of wurms, but only the "old wurm" counts, and they're practically nonexistant.

Btw, Claws of Veeshan is the Velious dragon faction. Ring of Scale is the Kunark dragon faction, and is the one needed for Veeshan's Peak. So Saleani, yes, killing stuff in Skyfire will still hurt your VP questing faction.

Lemonade, this sounds like the sort of thing that should be reported in this thread. The devs have asked that we post problems with the pattern book quests there.

Old Wurms are on PH rotation with Elder Wyverns / Guardian wurms. Try killing some of them and watch the Old wurms flourish.

Another point tho. SF has terrible terrible pathing and there are *multiple* places where mobs get stuck in geometry.
If you run over one of those *potholes* its not uncommon to get 20-30 mobs on you, they just need to get aggroed to get out of their geometric dormant state.
This is especially true in the lava rivers.

So if you want to loosen up congestion, try getting FoE, grab a drink, dive down in the lava and make a run through the rivers. I bet you, that you will have a massive train on your behind when youre done

I have no clue why SoE hasnt fixed it, but since it has been that way forever basically, i dont expect them to fix it at all. Its just one of those gems you gotta live with.
