  • Ghoul of Takish-Hiz

I just spent 8 hours or so today trying to get him, and 3 hours last night. Killed him a total of 8 times before he finally dropped it for me. I'm writing this to hopefully give you a little help, altho it may not be much, its just what I experienced.

There are 2 camps that I'm aware of, one in Oasis and one in South Ro. There have been rumous of him spawning in North Ro, but all the posts I looked at said otherwise, and I didn't check so can't confirm.

When I did this, I had myself (65 Beastlord) and I was boxing a level 17 ranger. I also had a 49 bard guildie helping me most of the time, and in the last hour or so a 65 druid and a 57 druid guildies offered to help. The Oasis camp is only a small part of the zone and can probably be done without a tracker as the Ghoul always spawns in a small area of the zone. The South Ro camp is pretty much like camping AC for JBoots, so is a larger area to cover.

    South Ro
This camp is a lot easier with a tracker, although you can do it without. (If your by yourself, I would go to the Oasis camp). The first night I did this I had my bard guildie just pull everything in the desert area and swarm kite it. I picked up any leftovers and it was a case of slaughtering everything in sight. I don't know if the Ghoul is part of the AC cycle, altho we killed 'an asp' and 'a madman' any time we saw them up. Caught the Ghoul 3 times that night, no drops.

    Oasis of Marr
This camp is easily done really. In the North East of the zone, just south of the orc temple is a zone to a LDoN Adventure, in the form of a quicksand pit. I parked the level 17 tracker I was boxing there, and literally went on a killing rampage. I went from the orc temple, down to the middle of orc highway (the flat bit), up to the waters edge and then ran so I was adjacent to the orc temple, and then back to the orc temple. Any time I saw the ghoul on track, it spawned in that region somwhere. A possiblity may of been my track only reached that distance, and the ghould spawned further off and came into my tracking range, but I doubt it as there have been multiple confirmations of him being spotted in this vicinity. Arthikus is definitly a PH in this camp, as I would kill him and he might spawn again, or the Ghoul after his death, maybe 5-10 mins after. Not sure on 'an asp' or 'a madman' but again killed them anytime I saw them up.

My advice is to do the 2 camps cimultaneously, with guildies doing south ro camp (preferably trackers, I had 2 druids) and you doing the oasis camp. It is a tedious camp, and if the 2 druid guildies hadn't of offered help I might of given up ;p

I don't know whether this will help anyone or not, its just what I experienced and I'm posting to try and help others out. Feel free to add anything you think I may of missed.

I have much hatred for this ghoul. I distinctly remember a spiritual anchor rotting at the entrance to the sandpit back before I had even started the quest (because the tome of miragul was still MIA)

Now, it's the last piece I need (assuming I don't fail on clasps) and all 4 ghouls i've seen have been empty.

Finally got the anchor after 22 kills and 40+ hours. I popped in to Oasis right after the servers came up from the afternoon patch yesterday and there he was. Now to get that Firebone Notebook and I am done.

I have done zone wide wipes for hours (well, the northern half of the zone) in Oasis, and I can tell you that I have seen the Ghoul spawn in at least 5 different spawn points (as in, he literally popped on me), most far away from where you're talking about. There is no specific spawn point, just kill everything that roams. The same deal goes for the South Ro area, except it is restricted to spawn points in the desert.

Ghoul #18 and no Anchor BTW.

          Gnomish Greetings!

23 kills 53 hours in Oasis - nadda for Anchor. I am debating whether I am extremely unlucky or that those that have found it are lucky beyond reason.

On the upside, I have discovered the source of the desert madmen....they were doing this quest.

Thansk for your info guys. Like I said in my post it was just my experience. I am not confirming anything about spawns, jsut what I witnessed when doing the quest. I hope you get your anchors...

I got the anchor on my first kill, and naturally since I got lucky there, I failed the clasps.

11 kills since and no anchors, though a guildie got one going to a LDoN the other day, so hooray for that... not that she's working on the quest or anything :P

What was your skill (almost afraid to ask)? I am debating on whether to go all the way to 250 before attempting the combine because of the incredible time I have spent hunting for this item.

Wooters! Finally got my Anchor on kill 27! Now just gots to get my smithing maxed, hehe. If I fail on this combine.... well.... I'd don't want to even think about it.

I'm on ghoul #27, all in oasis.
I AE the northern part, clear southern, clear SRo, clear N.Oasis again.

Most of the ghoul pops seem to happen 10a-1p for me at least. Either by the shore just north of the docks or just north of the sandpit ldon zone.

24th kill finally had something on the corpse, a rawhide cloak, nothing on the other 23 corpses at all, now on 27, still nothing.

This ghoul is going to drive me insane, this was the first part I had hoped to get for quest, but now, it is my last piece, got the robe, all other tradeskills combined successfully.

Heres to AEing the desert some more, I think my god did right in torching that forest, I hate the oasis.
