Actually, the reason for no GM Charms is because Large (chunk or something) of Corathus Fungus does not currently drop in game. It is getting added with the next patch if I remember what I read correctly.

Also, classes like Dwarves, Barbarians and Vah Shir will be able to make their race's charms with no problem, where as dark elves, humans, high elves will have to search for Coarse Spider Silk.

The book explains you need a swatch of whatever metals your race can use and an equal number of unfired charms to go with that. Dwarves only use bars, so their combine for the charm would be something along the lines of:
Grandmaster's Bar of (whatever) Steel, Large Corathus Fungus, Unfired Grandmaster Charm, Symbol of _____ Unity

Vah Shir would be: Grandmaster's Bar of (whatever) Steel, Grandmaster's (whatever) Swatch *leather*, Large Corathus Fungus, Unfired Grandmaster Charm, Unfired Grandmaster Charm, Symbol of ______ Unity

Human would be: Grandmaster's Bar of Claviger Steel, Grandmaster's Sagacious Swatch, Grandmaster's Stargazer Swatch, Unfired Grandmaster's Charm, Unfired Grandmaster's Charm, Unfired Grandmaster's Charm, Large Corathus Fungus, Symbol of ______ Unity

If anyone on Nameless/Innoruuk wastes coarse spider silk on a charm instead of making some GM Starglow armor to sell to me I will {scold them very sternly}...

Ok, so now that the best stats are known for the best available charm, is anyone else let down by the end result? The GM Plate armor is better than Time loot, but the GM charm (which is as hard as the hardest GM armor in terms of both skill and drop rarity) isn't better than most any charm I can think of. It seems to be worse than the Intricate Wooden Figurine, The MPG/RSS charms, and the DoN bought charms. And, the requirements to get the maximum stats are nowhere near trivial. Are these charms really worth making?

Basically, and sadly, no they are not worth making. Maybe 2-3% of players would get real benefit from the charms, the rest already having better charms, or are wearing DoN armour in too few slots to justify using the charm.

Its not a bad charm for newbies, wearing full sets of expert or master, and maybe if it had an additional aug slot, like the crystal bought aug, then more would want one, but as it stands now, there seems to be very limited interest among players, esp among post lvl 65 players.

I just finished my first full set of Journeyman's DoN armor for my human monk and decided to get his pottery up so I could make his charm. IT was very worthwhile for him at level 20 with a full set of sacgacious armor. The combine didn't require a drop other than the one's to make the different types of material from the don armor. (BTW the trivial on the unfired journeyman's charm is 70, but I don't know who to tell that too )

I think this stuff is very worthwhile for us lowbies.

I'm confused about the usable Race / Classes posted on some of the charms. Why are some classes listed that don't exist for that Race?

Example: Expert Charm of Derived Corruption - DEF / PAL RNG SHD BRD BST

Others show Erudite Ranger, Bard and Beast and even a Barbarian Cleric???

I am going to go out on a ledge and say that it was a blanket copy/paste thing that was done.

For example, the Derived Unity produces Hybrid Charms where as Spiritual Unity produces Clr/Dru/Sham Charms. It was probably just easier to past all of that type onto one item instead of possibly forgetting a class of a race.

yes. it was "simplicity" and "time"

it would not seem it, but to cull out off classes in 200 charms would probably take me most of a day.

It was just a matter of "int" casters, "wis" casters, "pure" meele, and Hybrids, and just copy and paste across the gamut. As it is it took a good hour or two just to weed out the ones where there was no match at all (I.E. Dwarves have no int casters...)

The idea for these had already been started when I picked them up. The initial items (statless) had already been made, and were just made 14 * 4 * 4 times, and all/all had to be culled and restricted. Since time was an issue, I just grouped the classes.

Plus this means less work if a class gets added to a race!

does this mean if y'all are planning on adding a class to a race you do things like this ahead of time? i remember when eq came out my guide said gnome pally but the game didn't allow for it at the time lol

It's not necessarily that they're planning on adding new race/class combos. But consider that Frogloks just got three or four new classes right before the launch of DoDH. If they do something like that in the future, it saves time to have items prepped with all the allowed combos.

No specific plans that I know of.

But a good example are the classes added to Froglok's last expansion.

I have completed my first GM charms. Anyone know how many cultural pieces you need to wear to max stats and also what prices these are showing up at? None for sale on Cazic server

Max stats requires one of each visable piece: BP, Legs, Arms, Gloves, Boots, Hat, Bracer. The GM charms are still quite expensive to make, and quite rare, as they require 1 of each type (Glossy Drake Hide, Metallic Drake Scale, Coarse Silk Swatch) in a combination of 2-3 depending on what types (Leather, Silk, Plate, Chain) you race is able to wear. For Example Half Elf has no Silk class so the charms require 1 Runeseeker Swatch (Leather) and 1 of either (I assume) Daybreaker or Wayfarer (plate/chain). I have made 2 sets of charms and used Daybreaker, but I have not tried Wayfarer. The GM charms also require a particularly hard to find ground spawn (Large Corathus Fungus) that is tradeable so you might get lucky with a vendor dive or in the bazaar. You are not very likely to see the charms for sale in the Bazaar since there cost is far higher than thier value considering the stats. You are far better off to buy a DoN charm.

I assume the only way you will see any for sale in the Bazaar is "IF" anyone decided to have someone make one for thier toon. Since the yeild on the combine is 2-3 charms (of the same type) depending on the number of Glossy/MDS/Coarse in the recipie, you may see the extras for sale.

Keep in mind the increase in stats is not dependent on wearing GM armor with GM charm, any cultural piece will update the charm. Though the higher lvl the piece, the better the upgrade.

If more culural pieces are added in the future (Belt, shawl, rings etc) and these pieces increased stats as well these charms might end up being worth someones time.
