Well... it does not make as much sense for them.
While I understand the desire for "convenience" there needs to be a modicum of reality.

#1 they don't fit on a "ring"

#2 they are semi-consumables. (if you fail a combine the mold is "broken")

Um, are you sure about #2?

I made a whole bunch of stuff last night, about 40 Prestigidase Palladium ear/finger/neck items. I failed a couple of combines, but I'm pretty sure that the mold was returned on success or failure.

I would buy 3 molds of a particular type (ear/finger/neck). I then made 1-2 items each reusing the mold and then I sold the molds back.

Just looked at the data... nothing is returned on failure of making the metal part of the ring/earring/pendant.

The Cut tool is returned on gem cut failures.

the gem is returned on mount failures...

are you sure it was not the later two that you failed at? (making the metal part is not difficult, just not no-fail)
